Muckaway:
love the picture of the Sherman tank after it went through side of the bridge at Burford just goes to show the yanks could’nt drive then and they certainly have’nt got any better. It’s amazing how strong and well built the bridge is when you consider how old it is and you can still go over it at up to 44 ton, I’m surprised there is no limit on it, only a matter of time before H and S think about that I suppose but the alternative for anybody going up to Warwick is along to Northleach and up the Fosse or via Oxford/M40, quite a lengthy diversion.

SSSSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Chazzer H&S dummies watch this site, don’t put ideas into there stupid heads.
Especially in summer when Burford’s full of suicidal tourists and hopeless car drivers trying to park, I prefer to use the A40/A429 Fosseway to get to Moreton,Stratford etc. If and when the garage, shop and hotel get built at Windrush I’ll have to try it out…
Hi Oilreader , that blue daf /removal wagon is not based in Oxford , its a company which has bought a oxford number .
We dont come up against them at all .
thanks buddy
A DAF on Roman Road, the building behind, was and maybe still is the Pressed Steel Social Club, many a good night there.
oily
Oiltreader, its typical the only truck on Roman road is an east european one, soon there won’t any uk trucks on the roads, I counted 90 odd foreign trucks going the other way on the M40 between the Bicester junction and the Warwick one about three years ago when I was bored one day, that’s a lot of trucks using british roads without paying anything for the privilege.
Is the Pressed Steel club the same as Morris Motors SC? If so I heard it went bust a couple of years ago…
This Bedford TL Turntable Ladder was based at Rewley Road Fire Station for years; Far longer than standard pump/ladder appliances last in OFS service. As a cadet, I went up this at full reach one evening, amazing view of Oxford
B reg TK that served at Didcot and Bicester and now believed to be still working in Malta

Hi Muckaway
No they were different clubs, Morris Motors SC was on Crescent Rd off Holloway, But you are right that they went ■■■■ up after building a lovely new club house which was for sale recently

Charlbury Station looking towards Oxford; The siding on the left was used by James Marriott for many years, until the sidings were closed. The gasworks on the right closed in the early '50s.
Great pic Nathan, I live in Charlbury & the Station has changed a bit They have got some good pics of the old station here in the Charlbury Museum, but they wouldn’t lend them out

Hi Muckaway,
Is this the firm smartmovesremovals.co.uk/gallery/ you mean with a driver stationed south.
oily
Mus be a different firm Oily; The one I’ve seen is red.
Sheehans’ are building a waste washing plant at Stanton Harcourt (Smiths’ old quarry/tip); So I’ve been told the landfill is going to be “quarried” aswell as washing inert waste brought in. Good luck to them, bit of competition for the Red Arrows at Shellingford I heard a bunch of NIMBYs objected to it, quite probably the same who objected to reopening Hansons’ at Northmoor and Cassington plus a business on Stanton industrial estate whos’ fairly new building was built on…an old landfill

Not a haulage company as such, but not surprising reading The OM has removed readers’ comments I see so the numberplate swapping incident to avoid London LEZ has been silenced
