Took my passport with me and ventured/was exiled up North on Tuesday and Wednesday, and came across The Little Moss cafe on the Colne-Keighley road. Nice little place, bought a bacon and egg roll for about £2. I also stopped at Sedbury Cafe for my tea near Scotch Corner in the late afternoon. Anyone familiar with either of these places? Both were pretty good (overnighted in Darlington and found a pub for a swift pint of ale aswell )
I was on our East Anglia-Leicester run last Thursday/Friday and overnighted at the Stibbington. No complaints there either.

Well at least you’d be able to enjoy a decent pint in Darlington Nathan,a lot better supping than the flat chalk water ■■■■ willy that you normally have to sup down your way Oh! you didn’t get ■■■■■■ in Darlington on a couple of pints did you mate Cheers Dennis.
Odd how I have missed this thread (probably too far up my own whatsit creating new threads to notice it!). Never mind. Does anyone remember the Sunset Transport Cafe on the Thanet Way A299 at Whitstable? When I was a mid-teens sort of a boy in the mid-sixties sort of a time, I sometimes use to divert from school to the Sunset Cafe to watch the lorries (being an HGV-positive sort of kid) climb the steep bank to the Long Reach pub at the top of the hill. Certainly I remember BRS Bristol artics and the like crawling up there, but far and away my favourites were the regular drays operated by Truman’s Ales of London. These were mark 3 AEC Mammoth Major rigid eights with draw-bar trailers - fabulous beasts to me in those days. Can anyone find a picture of one? Robert
No I didn’t Dennis, had a lie in though (4.15am). Two weeks of London beckon from Tuesday, then I’m on a night out on Lancs-■■■■■■■ run. I think I’m up Lancashire way the following week on a night out too, then I believe Scotland beckons soon afterwards.

All points of the compass by the looks of things Nathan, never a dull moment eh! 4:15 start and why not !! done plenty of them in the past, now there is only one 4:15 (well 16:15 ) as far as I’m concerned but it’s a true saying “one hour before lunch is worth two after lunch” Gan Canny,Dennis.

I used to use the Sunset Cafe on the A229.
Next door was a caravan dealers.
Think it closed late 70’s early 80’s?
There were two or three cafes in Canterbury which were handy for my deliveries,
including one called Doges Chantry opposite the Longport(?) car/coach/lorry park.

Small world! Yes it did close over 30 years ago. As for your Longport delivery and your signiture ‘punk is not dead’: my youngest brother lived in Longport in those days and played for the punk band ‘Longport Buzz’! So there you go! Robert
every time i stopped at the old cafe on the old A1 before the A66 at scotch corner there always seemed to be a bloke with a transit type van selling cheap watches and trinkets and the like no matter what time of day it was late afternoon or three in the morning he was there
