I had an umbillical hernia a couple of years ago.Lump appeared above my navel after trying to move a tub of mortar .I went to the doctor Monday morning and was sent to hospital straight away, and admitted within the hour.Op the day after they had an emergency and cancelled my op. Six weeks later fit to go back to work but warned about lifting as they had to put a piece of gauze in to stop it happening again. You have to be careful forever afterwards and listen to their advice.
well back home after having my hernia op this morning.turned out i had a direct hernia and an indirect hernia so had them both done.
Good, pleased to hear they’ve been sorted Neil. Hope all went well. . Speedy recovery & DO NOT lift anything heavier than a pint!
I just got home this morning too after having to spend an unexpected further 3 days in Thailand due to the airport blockade. 4* Bangkok hotel + 3 meals a day, £120 a night rack rate, courtesy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Ive had an inginial (or whatever the spelling is) hernia and I had to stay in overnight afterwards after they found it was bigger than they first thought, and I had to be attached to a surgical drip for a week after too
Get well soon mate.
I had an inguinal hernia a few years ago. I had an appointment with the specialist and Oxfordshire NHS cancelled it the week I was due to see the surgeon. I had to write letters to MP and chairman of NHS trust. I then got a consultation with a Professor of the review board who took one look at it and said it needed doing straight away. A month later I was in and had it done (cut open, not keyhole). 6 weeks on the sick and I was back at work. It still feels numb and I do get some pain now and again. It’s never the same after.
Also I had a big square patch of my leg hair waxed off after the op. I asked why this was and they said they stick your toddger to your leg so it doesn’t get in the way…

A big square? If a knife was anywhere in the vicinity of my John Thomas it’d be that small you could stick it to one of my nads!!!

I did notice the operating theatre full of nurses, maybe they were up to something? I had a trainee Dr trying to get the IV into my hand and he kept going straight through and missing the vein altogether, to the point where the woman anesthetist had to take over and use the other hand as the other was stabbed to shreds. I thought i was going in for a hernia op, not to be stabbed to death by some incompetent trainee Dr. Thank god I had a professional do the actual operation…
