Hi all on the subject of No. Plates.
Back in the 80’s, my younger brother Andy R.I.P. who had spent many years on european work decided to have a break from it. He purchased a second hand ERF 8 wheel tipper to do quarry work. The reg. No. was CUN11T .
Everybody it seems carried a roll of black insulation tape and he got stopped several times while he owned it. Wonder why ■■?
Regards, Nobby

Remember Andy well Nobby , when he was on BI.

Here’s one for you Ray, it might also be of interest to a certain gent, a resident of Macclesfield, not unknown for having partook in tasting sessions with the odd glass now and again

Back in the early 90’s Promotor had inherited a car with the registration number B737 LGW. I think it was a blue Nissan. It was used by one and all but one day Peter, the boss, told me it was up for sale and for how much. I was taken aback by the price but Peter told me it was because of the number plate that he had inflated the price. Now, I was always a bit slow on the uptake so he spelt it out for me. Boeing 737 passenger airplane and LGW the prefix for Gatwick Airport. Sure enough he sold it to a pilot flying Boeing 737 aircraft out of Gatwick.

MFS,part of Glass Glover Group had SKY 2Y to SKY 9Y.
I had SKY 6Y int photo. The gaffer at Camerons,Scania agent at Barnsley had SKY 1Y.

That’s a mighty big change in Weston’s fleet! Back in the day they ran a load of Commer TS3s and Karriers, probably around 1950s/60s.
Have to say, their product is still as good as ever- I have a pint of their Wyld Wood on the computer desk as I type. Cheers, Oily!
