Came on here to cheer myself up, yesterday I went to a funeral of my neices husband age 59, we was just about to leave , and giving kisses & hugs to six of my neices of the same family, when got news the seventh one Kath was dying, she has been in a nursing home for several weeks. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: her husband died in april, I find it hard that people a lot younger than me are dropping like flies. My sister who was mother of this family, passed away well ten years ago, had seven girls and two boys, my brother fred died about two years ago, had five girls and three boys, second eldest boy Freddie died four years ago age 60. I am the eldest statesman of our nearly 300 tribe, I started the family tree several years ago, with grandparents , mother & father and other have added their tree to mine, we are well over two hundred and my brothers side of the family have got to add their sons, daughters, grandaughters, etc. My youngest sister had six and I have not got their total family. Reg my younger brother who I have mentioned is in Yarmouth had two boys, they have granchildren. Just realised, I am commander chief of a army.

hiya,
Dave, Iā€™ll need to take our Norm on a voyage to do a spot of fishing
off Iceland to get him some sea legs, itā€™s a bit rough at this time of
year and the old trawler spends more time out of the water than in
it so that should get him stable enough to stand on the deck of the
Admirals flagship and address his fighting men, heā€™ll be fine if the
said vessel remains anchored at the base of the Northampton light-
house, and if he needs a helmsman to set a course and steer him
into deep water I think Iā€™m still capable, I await his response :smiling_imp: .
thanks harry, long retired.

Not worried about the sea trips, more concerned about my feet, they are at risk, the nerve ends are damaged,   it makes my feet canā€™t feel sharp objects, also it has altered my balance, I can not walk slowly, I feel unbalanced, so when I walk with the wife, I keep leaving her behind, I have to stop to let her catch up.   Sometimes both my legs from the feet to the kneeā€™s feel like chunks of meat, but if they begin to pain me, I give then half hour on my machine " The Circulation Booster", it sends electric currants up my nerve ends to help the blood circulate. I have had the device three years this August, it has been the best Ā£200 I have spent, it donā€™t cure, it gives relief and I donā€™t have to take painkillers for my legs, it brings down swelling, I have told my poditary about it, at least six people have brought one, but you must do it twice a day or more if it troubles you. I take it when I go on holiday, it is better than being in pain.

Sounds as if you are giving yourself ultrasound therapy like the top sports stars have for muscle injuries etc.
Cheers Dave.

Dave I am just greatful it gives me some relief, so people have been known to plead with the doctors to let them have the legs off, others neglect themselves, they have to have feet & legs removed. I am doing good and hope I keep it up.

Having limbs off doesnā€™t necessarily take away the pain Norm. A lot of amputees suffer what is called phantom feelings and still suffer pain. Strange old thing the nervous system. Stick with it mate, the power of positive thinking.
Cheers Dave.

We old lorry driverrs only know one thing,   Keep right on till the end of the road, :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: until we park up for good! :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Horrible situation for your brother and everyone else in those circumstances Norm, it mus t be a nightmare.
Cheers Dave.

Yes Dave, it turned out ok in Great Yarmouth, they was back in their home on saturday afternoon, the sea defences done the job, even when this was worse than 60 yers ago. But Lowestoft was flooded, but it had gone down by the time we got there on saturday, but the main road to Yarmouth was shut, we had to dodge round the old road by the docks and come over the bridge in Yarmouth by their town hall. but we saw all the sandbags by the doors and gates of houses by the river which is part of the sea, I saw a fews ships, I took a fleeting glance in case Harry was on one!

Glad to hear your Brother was OK Norm. We had a burst central heating pipe here last week which caused a mess, but it was nothing compared to what the people who suffered all that flooding faced.
Also we are insured and will get all our repairs and replacements done and paid for. A lot of those people havenā€™t or canā€™t get insurance. I really feel for them.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
The only ocean going Iā€™m going to do from now on is when Iā€™m aboard
the cruise ship that youā€™ve promised us Norm, thatā€™s when the boat
comes in when you hit the jackpot on the lottery and I want my cabin
forā€™ard soā€™s I can see what the Skipperā€™s up to, no sailing close to the
rocks, Iā€™ll set the course and make sure the ā€œOld Manā€ steers to it.
thanks harry, long retired.
