I’d no more night out for free than if drive for free It’s madness to even consider it. You’ll not get an honest answer to this question because anyone stupid enough to do it wouldn’t admit it on here as they’d get flamed something chronic

I’ll give you an honest answer. I night out for free.
I’m in a good job that I enjoy, it’s a small firm with 5 drivers, one of whom is the boss. The equipment is kept top class, the work is handy and the pay is excellent.
About twice a month we each get caught to stay out. Usually due to unforeseen delays . We each have the same unit all the time, all high cabs with night heaters, so I always have a wash bag and a change of clothes.
I will continue to night out for free because I’m happy in my job, with my conditions etc and it doesn’t happen often. I also find I just park up, eat and get into bed so normally get 8 hours continuous sleep which never happens at home.

Self employed hauliers do it all the time but the job rate is supposed to be high enough to include the extra expense of overnighting.
