Can any of you lads put my mind to rest,i beleive there was a Transport Company or Clearing House that operated on the quayside called Nala transport.Probaly by a man called Alan.

Yes, Nalla Transport had a office on the Milk Market it was a wooden shed, It was a cafe at one time in the 50s, But then it became the office for Nalla, which was Allan spelt in reverse, His name was Allan Coats, He had brothers in the transport game also, Tommy Coats who worked for Albert Blake, & the infamous Bobby Coats who worked in Transmotors Office on the Quay, & Then J & H Transport Ltd, then All Day Transport on the Quay, such a long time ago Eh, Regards Larry.

Thanks Larry,
Fergie in the late sixties bought a ERF 8 wheeler from Transmotors B173BTN with a Gardner 150 in and a David Brown six speed box which i did a lot of cement out of the Cement works in Weardale to Yorkshire and ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ we were loaded for Yorkshire with 16 ton of handball we stayed at Burts Cafe on the A68 on the bank out of West Auckland The ratchet hand brake left a bit to chance.

Hello FT, I think you have the reg the wrong way round ? also I think the motor you are fefering to was Transways from South Shields, but I may be wrong on that, but It sticks in my mind that Transmotors didnt have any wagons they were just a clearance house concern, Regards Larry.

Hi Larry I remember Dunns cafe ,yes it was good when tipping at the warehouse[ forgot its name] a cross the road, took a full load of matches there one day ,but they would not tip me because the sheet was torn and some of the cases where damaged, when a motor going the other way on the Stamford straight got too close .
They refused them because they said they were a fire hazard . So l spent an hour awaiting instruction where to take them :open_mouth: guess what back to the smoke for repackaging Regards crowbar

Aye Ralph, it was Youngers Warehouse, the forman was a bloke called Tommy Miller, a real true gent was Tommy, nowt was a bother to him, they also had a place at Gateshead in Pipewellgate just off the Swing Bridge, The good old days Eh Regards Larry.
