OK you must all be very very old on this thread. It was Supergrans flying machine the kids programme not sure if it was ITV or BBC. They had the camera on the front of the deck and it gave the impression that it was flying. The vehicle was on the Quayside and along the sea front between Tynemouth & Whitley Bay for a couple of days, Bob English was the Driver and was well looked after.

W.A.GLENDINNINGS to the rescue,dah,dah,daaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.
I had a good look around there the other day, they were still doing work under the arch but they have made an entrance just before the bridge that winds into the ‘Toffee Factory’, it seems this is the title they want to use for the refurbished and modernised buildings which are now up for use as offices and business apartments, the chimney is the centre piece of the entrance and now its all cleaned up it looks quite impressive, I think they are keeping the archway as an alternative entrance, I would have asked but there were no workmen about at the time, shame they will probably paint over the old scrapes and marks from the trailers. Its actually difficult to remember how the yard looked to what it is now as they have changed the roadway slightly. They seem keen to advertise the place with the big hoarding outside which you can see in the pic above, don’t think it will be a place for men in overalls, oily hands and loud profanities, I actually felt a bit out of place looking around with my work gear on, oh well progress I suppose. Franky.

There were certainly plenty profanities Franky!! anyone not an artic driver will probably say “if it drives in and you can turn round how is it so difficult to drive out?” but the dogleg on that tunnel made it an absolute barsteward as you know.
Regards Kev. ps see you at the “do” I hope.
