I first had the pleasure of Boulevard Périphérique in 1981. It was as nuts then as it probably still is now. Traffic coming onto the Périphérique always had priority and didn’t they know it!! 
I remember seeing them coming flying down the slip roads and straight out into lane 1, no looking, no indicators etc, just straight out and go for it, Parisien style!!
If you have seen the (excellent) film Ronin, you will have an idea of how fun it is! 
I don’t let them in…They just come in! 
From January, as an attempt to reduce pollution, the speed limit on the périphérique will decrease by 10km/h. Down from 80 to 70 for cars etc, and to 60 for trucks.

Enter the périph at as brisk a pace as possible without dawdling, as you have priority (especially if driving a foreign plated truck or the locals will have you for breakfast).

Repair immediately to lane 2 and floor it.

Only return to lane 1 just before you need to exit the périph but AFTER the last on slip.
