New wheels

The blokes at Atlantic Detroit are paid by the hour, which is why it took them 1.5 hours to return the keys after the test drive.

Ugly [zb] that thing is Pat no offence like Chap but it really is a munter…

US trucks are designed like submarines ,not for looks but for functionality. You have a steel cage to protect the driver, an easily accessible engine bay & driver accommodation on the back & that’s it -what more can you ask for?

Very true Harry  Most are ugly, out dated crap with the aerodynamics of a garden shed and it seems that in 1985 some smart guy found Fuller Roadranger gear boxes, put the rubbishy crash boxes in trucks and thought ‘Oh well, we found a gear box that works so wy bother improving on it’
On the good side … the interior accomodation is far more than anyone of you blokes in the UK could dream of.

To me ugly is beautiful when it comes to trucks. These cutie-pie Scanias with all their bells & whistles look frankly, silly IMO. Difference between Tyson & Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen .

I would trade the Cascadia for a Scania in a heartbeat.

Your ■■■ hole in the Bronx wasn’t Hunts Point, Pat was it?
Makes any London market look like paradise…

What capacity are those diesel tanks? it looks tiny! You must have to fill up more than once a day.

Whats happened to the smoke stacks?

60 gals each side, makes sure we can carry full load capacity and as I only average 1400 miles a week it’s usually every two days. Unlike most stateside drivers I don’t have to do miles to earn my pay.

Clever man! Its a mugs game I wish I was not involved in, but there you go!
I keep telling them in Canada when they bring in their fancy new electronic log books they seem obsessed with, they’ll have to pay us all by the hour like every one else in society, they have none of it though and laugh at the idea of truckers actually being paid for what they do.

We are already on ‘ELOGS’ and they can be a pain but as we get paid differently they have no effect on the money. My old company has switched to them too but the drivers there are loosing out big time because they get paid by the mile, the drivers I talk to say they have lost 30% of their weekly pay and are never home mid week anymore.

Getting paid by the mile is almost criminal in my book any way. As an employed driver you take all the risk for the company and gain the lowest reward and it does nothing but encourages or even demands completely illegal running to make ends meet. If all drivers were paid by the hour or whatever there would be no need for elogs as no one would need to make up time against the book. Simple, dictate an hourly rate and make it illegal to pay more than 14 or 16 hours per day, in US / Canada. But as usual its gonna be the driver that suffers from both ends of the stick when this comes in across the board. I think when that day arrives, if we’re not on hourly pay or day rate by then it’ll be time for me to head back to the UK…and thats saying something!!!

How would I be stalled ? All exhausts blow out, not ■■■■ in so any water in the pipe is expelled when the engine is running. I have driven lots of vehicles through deep water where it is even at the bottom of the doors but never stalled, I drove my Audi through water that was over the bonnet (hood) without a problem.
