I think Scania still look alright with the new shape grille & love the new side skirts.
They just need to update the gizmos a bit like Volvo I-cool, Volvo active steering, MAN EDC, Merc Actros solo star cab option for example, not that the Jerry’s offer it as an option on right hand drive models apparently.
i just googled solo star, very nice indeed!

the Scania is looking very old hat these days compared to all these modern trucks.
Class and style doesnt age.
I saw my old 143 heading into London on Thursday, she still looked fantastic. These new things will be out of fashion in a few years, the 3 series doesn’t age.
H B Holt & Sons have one in the paintshop. I imagine it will look quite well in those rich colours.
Them Anderson ones look nice
This is exactly what I was saying about UK trucks not looking good. They all look really smart except for that Coulthard thing, it’s awful. Want to see the Anderson ones from the side.

Well, maybe Volvo have climbed into the 21st century at last!
Are you serious? Which “century” would you say this looks like it’s from then?
USB socket or not, this is a top truck & probably the most ‘striking’ looking thing out there.
Ross.
I must admit the fh 16 does look smart but the more standard version doesn’t have the same kerb appeal though I’m sure they are lovely to drive I’m not over keen as they remind me of an hino!

Well I did hear it said many years ago that FH stood for Fancy Hino…

Cheers

V nice but whats with them air horns? A bit odd.

+1 but i wouldnt say a bit odd, id say absolutley ridiculous! Better off with none than that effort.
Had my first couple of days and night out in a new model 500 this weekend and its difficult not to be impressed. I agree with previous comments that the quality of some of the cab dash isnt up to the previous models quality however the ergonomics for the driver are excellent. It will be interesting to see how the cabs stand up to being a 24 hour a day fleet motor.
I didn’t quite figure out how to toggle through the various displays and the radio seems a bit over complicated but I’m sure a week out in it would sort that out. The bed was comfortable and the fridge and freezer were very effective and welcome this weekend.
There certainly didnt feel to be any reduction in pull versus the Euro 5 model although there was just a touch of hesitancy in the i-shift lower down the gears compared with the last model and the range between changes seemed a lot shorter.
The cab is noticeably quieter than anything else I’ve driven and puts the new Actros to shame in that department. It really is a pleasant place to be and they have done a good job sorting out the blind spot that is the old models mirrors. The parking brake is intuitive but I didn’t like the fact you need to double check the red light is on to confirm its applied. The original style for me is as decisive as something so critical needs to be and time will tell when someone has a mishap thinking is has applied but hasn’t.
Major downside, it’s uglier than ugly and you’d need dam good beer goggles to think it looks a patch on the old FH

Nice motor let down by those horns. The factory fitted angled ones look so much better
Kelsa bar going on in a couple of weeks to hide the brackets (thank god lol)
Gary.

Nice to read an unbiased review from someone who has spent a bit of time in one.

Thanks for that. It’s not the worst, I suppose but it’s very fussy. Compare it to the Dutch ones…

Thanks for the pictures Gary. I saw the lorry before it was painted and it does look like it needs some Kelsa bling. I have to agree about the roof horns
funny i’v seen 2 new volvo fh’s broken down this week , cooper buckleys one at ballindalloch, a reed boardall one beside the meat factory at turriff.
