New to trucknet

I believe it’s a good plan to go for CE asap after C because you’re still in learning mode, no bad habits crept in and makes you more employable.

Remember you will need driver cpc. Assuming you passed your car test after 1997 you will need initial driver cpc. Do this BEFORE you go for CE then some of your CE will be credited to the subsequent period for driver cpc, assuming your trainer has this course approved for dcpc.

Have a look at the cost of driver cpc. It ranges between free and £400+ with the initial generally IRO £200.

There are some great deals about - do the homework!

Thanks again,

Where are you based may I ask?

I see carlisle listed there?

I have been looking at ritchies and gtg. Both were nice on phone but need to check the places out. Gtg seems a bit higher. Both include module 4 cpc.

I just cannot wait to get started to be honest.

Have sent you a pm. Pete

Haven’t bothered to read it all but stay away from the company in the original link, I used their sister company and they were a pita, find a local place to you they’ll usually do a deal if you bargain well enough, and get a test run before you commit so you can see the state of their fleet and how they train. I’m having the problem with the two years experience but I’m with an agency ATM, as I see it every different job is more experience and if I make a good impression I can apply direct if a job comes up

Thanks sam.

Have you got c and e license? Are you getting much work from agency?

Cheers

Thanks, i just had hgv express on the phone and the guy would not let me off the call. was on for 40 minutes and he promised work etc which i think is bull to be honest. sounds far too good to be true.

speaking to ritchies and gtg. my only concern is when they say about the assessment for either 5 or 7 days. will they not just put me on 7 days for more money out me?

also does any of the courses or can you take courses that will go towards driving experience as alot of the jobs say 2 years or 180 days driving which as a new cat c driver i wont have. my wife is worried about me spending the money towards it for no work at the end.

i just have fancied doing it for years but never done and with my little one starting school after summer i want something regular for money and work. any thoughts on how to get the experience?

thanks again for helping.

Go and see Jim Mair of Kilmarnock there a good bunch there , I did my C then a few weeks later did my C & E , as the guys above say check them all out , go speak face to face look at there fleet , have an assessment drive , Alec , Gary , Davie , Tom and Jim himself are all a good bunch , hard on you but fair when training ,after all your paying good money for training not to be best buddies , Fiona in the office is very helpfull with any paper work your not sure of worth a look , take your time go round them all , Pete and Rog will help you with any Qs your not sure and please stay away from brokers you’ll end up fleeced and a nitemare from hell , all the best and best of luck
