Dont be afraid of calling ahead to a truck stop to see if you can pre-book a space. If you know you’re going to be done around 8pm the likelyhood of you getting a good place is very slim. I rolled into the Red Lion at Northampton last week just after 17:30 and I was one of the lucky few who managed to snag a space. Come 18:00 they were full.
