Article says it’s only “the north of the UK” going back to Bidvest.
Still an interesting development though. I guess both sides must have agreed to back out (of the DHL deal), otherwise it wouldn’t be legally possible, would it?
Article also says up to 350 stores.
I imagine that KFC can’t just pull out of the deal with DHL within the terms that were agreed I assume. Hence taking part of the distribution back on but not all if it.
You would hope (though wouldn’t be surprised if not) that there would be some performance break clauses if they didn’t meet the contract requirements to allow KFC to walk away
As I can’t find anything confirming or denying for trucknets sake and possible deletion of this post I’m not going to say what other than watch this space for news if and when it happens.

I have heard some interesting news re Bidvest.
As I can’t find anything confirming or denying for trucknets same and possible deletion of this post I’m not going to say what other than watch this space for news if and when it happens.
Depending on which RDC waiting room you heard it in, I may well have heard the same thing.

I didn’t hear it in an RDC waiting room as such. As I say it’s only what I’ve heard so it may or may not be true or may not happen. I guess we will know at some point if it’s true or not.

Plenty of BS is posted daily on here so if it’s not true it won’t be out of place
I’m completely guessing but are DHL looking to buying Bidvest?,wouldn’t be the first time they have brought a company after losing a contract to them.

Ok, but it depends how you word it.
Rather than put what you’ve heard, put in the form of.
‘‘Wouldn’t it be ironic if…happened’’
Or ‘‘If only…happened, that would sort the situation out’’
Or ‘‘If it was me I would…’’
There’s always a way of getting around anything, and more ways than one of skinning a cat.
(Last bit proves I come from a rough area btw )

Most contracts have a clause for convenience, allowing the client to give notice at any point for any reason. Also works that way for the haulier. Just have to give the required notice time.

Well all I’m saying wouldn’t it be ironic if two companies were looking at allegedly buying Bidvest out?
This came from a fairly reliable source suggesting two companies were in the process of trying for a takeover of Bidvest. Certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.
He didn’t say it was, he said it would be ironic if they did. [emoji38]
Spoke to a few people today and ironically, they’ve heard nothing!! Are we talking Bidvest (Logistics) or Bidfood (foodservice)
Pass I didn’t know they had two trading names to be fair. It was only after your post I actually bothered to notice the trucks and depot across the road say bidfood on them not bidvest.
UPDATE APRIL 2019. Jobs under threat as KFC cuts ties with DHL Supply Chain
Driver redundancies could be on the cards at DHL Supply Chain after KFC’s decision to terminate its partnership with the logistics firm.
The move is understood to affect as many as 100 staff at DHL Supply Chain’s Rugby DC.
KFC confirmed this week that former incumbent Best Food Logistics will take over the southern half of DHL’s contract.
This comes just over a year since it was brought back on board by KFC to run the northern half of DHL’s distribution deal.
Not surprised in the least. Rugby always gave the impression of being in way over their depth and merely lurching from one crisis to the next. The staff to be fair were always friendly, polite and spot on, but the infrastructure was almost non existent. On one occasion it took me over an hour just to get in the bloody gate! The intercom is never answered so you end up sitting their like an idiot until the road outside is full of artics blocking everything up.
Did many Best drivers move across when the contract changed before? Will some scoot back now?
It’ll need a similar number of trucks to do the deliveries, irrespective of their colour, won’t it??

Not just a DHL thing. I have taken half an hour to get through the gates at Tesco depots. And being the only truck in the queue.
1 hour 40 mins just to get through the gates at Asda Chepstow last week. They were letting one truck in one truck out. There was only 4 trucks in front of me as well.
Booking slots are useless unless you are going to stick to them.
If I knew I couldn’t get in til say 2am but got tipped in a timely manner than I’d happily make sure I arrive at 2am for my booking. But until places stuck to bookings times drivers will always try and get in early.
Otherwise they need to alter how many bookings they have per day rather than just mess drivers around all the time.
After all we all have all the time in the world to sit there waiting and growing old.
