New job

Outandabout:
Toby you’ve got a lot of posts under your belt and I assume your a level headed guy,

Blimey :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

More tea vicar.

Reeferpilot:
So,what is the average take home wage then with S&K haulage please, everything included if your doing a couple of weeks away at a time…and do they do much Spain?

Bag of buttons and a truck that needs cleaning by the sound of it!

I only joined the forum to ask one question why do so-called experienced drivers bother going for the job in the first place, at the interview don`t you asked about pay and conditions night away / weekend allowance etc. or is it more likely that 2 weeks running out to Belgium and back down the line turns into years of Euro experience on your cv
With regards to the state of the trucks I forgot most on here only drive vehicles that this have that new smell about them, on the plus side quite a few are ex ES so you could driving one seen on TV
Another point I would like to make is with the number posts some on here make do they spend any time driving

It’s called multitasking. Driving with one hand and posting on here with the other. You’d think so the way some artics drift in and out of lane :-/

It’s good to read something from somebody that has worked their for more than a few weeks, where I work now nobody in the local area gave good feedback about but when I started I couldn’t understand why as I found it great work.

Maybe one day I’ll finally make the change from shunting to driving, hoping to do it where I am but somehow not looking to promising so have licence will travel I guess

Hope It’s all still going well, has anyone else started recently and stuck It out on here?

Look the thing is that if you want to get into doing europe S&K will give lads a go, The money may be not that good the truck may be a bit older than others but you will be getting your foot in to europe. If you have no experience it is hard to get into, even the irish are picky ( apart from nolans ) but from what is said on here, you are not pushed with the work, and you are left alone.I have worked for some shiyte hole paddy ( and english )firms who want a days work and then some more and was still getting chased round being told to keep going… keep going… So if you need a step into europe Fair play to S&K for giving lads a crack at it…

90% Belgium and holland and they work it so you weekend at Barry so they don’t have to pay you weekend away money, they promised loads of the lads that you can take your truck home but its rare and only if your face fits. Trucks are always breaking down and if you ain’t moving you ain’t earning but your £260 basic will get you by :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

toby i must say you are talking from your brown ring!!! I have NEVER been weekended with out being paid for it end of the the day your time for for ‘reset of hours’ is just that. If you are stuck in the truck and you can not do as you wish ‘ie to sepnd with your family’ then its only right then you should be compensated for it.
