My wagons/lorries through the years (and others)

Just had a read, all good stuff Noel, no complaints here matey, keep it coming,!
Every bit adds balance and pace to a life and storey of good and bad times, it’s all history, but more importantly it’s your history! And in amongst it all, some of us reading were able to share times with you, or along side of you!!!

A very happy New Year to all members on Trucknet.

And to you, young Noel.

a little off thread rof , when are you likely to be sober enough to journey north again? ( immigration checks permitting )

Just breezed through it again Noel, it does make a fascinating read.

I must have tempted fate because no sooner had I posted it I got a call from someone wanting me to take on another restoration project! Will have to think seriously that one. Best Regards Noel

Sorry about the delay, rigsby, but I’ve only just spotted your post. I’ve slipped in under the wire twice more since you posted that message and I’ve got away with it so far!
I may have to make further visits- work permit allowing- if YOUNG Noel decides to take on another project. Just to show the youngster how it’s done, of course.

005.jpgI had an experience yesterday which was akin to attending the funeral of an old friend. I went to Shropshire to view the remains of my old 240 F88 YKX 859M .I was saddened to see that 25 years exposed to the elements could have been so cruel. If you look at the top of this page you will see how it looked 25 years ago and this is how it looked yesterday.

I share your sadness, pal.
If I remember correctly, yours was the same spec as Dave Turley’s, wasn’t it?

Yes Casey it was IIRC however having said what I did I then looked in the mirror and saw what 25 years had done to me!! When the top pics were taken I had just done a refurb at 17 years old, it having been new in October 1973 so yesterdays pics show it approaching 42 years old.If I had access to a new cab she would have been coming home! Best regards Noel

:frowning: that needs to be saved

Gone a bit too far, I would think. Unless you have a spare cab or access to half a ton of sheet steel.
But it’s got the wrong engine anyway!

Nothing a bit a “t cut” won’t put right

In the light of recent events (see Gloucestershire thread) I thought some might like to re-visit these pages.
Kip yer elbows in, Noel, I wunt be far be’ind ya.
!

RIP Noel.

Such a shame, what a character he was ! Anyone who knew him would tell you how he loved
telling stories that would have you crying with laughter. Without doubt one of the funniest
men i ever met. He had a fantastic way with words as per the attached long distance diary he
wrote.Pure Minchew magic.

Click on pages once or twice to magnify for reading.

Thank you for posting that, Dean. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

I hope noels words are kept up on here for a long time obut a long term friend and comrad in arms. We be out in the west of ireland drawing timber I must of asked him a hundred times to come out west and do battle here with the timber and the lovely forestry roads. I’m sure he would of rose to the challenge. We where always talking on the phone about the state of play. He will be sadly missed God bless you min

Wouldn’t that truck rather be a G 88, with its further frontwards fitted front axle?

Just sat and read through my Dad’s (Noel’s) posts. I heard every single one in his distinctive voice!
Thank you for all of your tributes, and respects to him upon his passing. He has definitely left a void.
Best Wishes
Emma
