Moto servs Severn view

trubster:
My thoughts exactly.

It makes me laugh, people park in layby’s to “Stick it up em”, then expect to use a shower at the services for free?

If you want a shower, pay the £3 or even better, spend another £2, get a coffee and a magazine and the shower is free.

Do you think people should drive trucks for free, should Scania etc give trucks away for free etc, It’s

I get upset I have to pay for fuel and traun fares, get used to it.

The problem with applying that logic to MSA’s , is that MSA’s are supposed to offer these services free to the travelling public .

+1

I take it that’s just your opinion Mike c

I bet you cannot show me anywhere where it says that it is supposed to be free.

If you want the link to the official Gov policy have a root here

Just popped in there for a quick shower only to be told that if I haven’t paid to park or bought something in the shop over a fiver or 10 pounds worth of fuel there is now a charge of 3 quid!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

WTF!! Since when??

so we’ll all line up outside your house for a free shower shall we then :unamused:

I fail to see your point there?? It was free for years why now charge you for it??

I’m amazed that place is still open for business. Ever since the second Severn crossing was opened, that place has been useless. I stopped there several years ago, and was charged a fortune for Fish Chips and Peas which were cold.
The original services up the top were excellent, but these down the bottom are useless.

Thats my opinion. That policy paper is a joke too. No one took any notice of the last one and just done as they liked too. They’re a law unto themselves, designed totally to fleece coach loads of pensioners out of their hard earned cash.

So what do you want in the next one being realistic ?,
I thought they were fleecing truckers, now they’re fleecing pensioners dressed in beige

They’ll probably be another consultation along in a couple of years as the HA changes to a Gov co or whatever, get working on your response to get your views known.

You had your chance to make comments this time last year when it was out for consultation as did the FTA, RHA and anyone else that could be bothered.

The Gov’t pulled out of MSA’s years ago. As they want to leave things for the ‘free market’ to decide upon.

The policy paper you refer to as a joke removes any barriers to distances between MSA’s, Infil Msa’s et, Have a guess who fought against that and lost

It removes as much legislation as possible for new entrants to the market, There are a few sniffing about but no one will enter the market to make a loss or if there isn’t a decent return on their multimillion pound investment.

I did hear about a letter requesting a new service area on the M25 suggesting a couple of slip roads, a gravel parking area and some portaloo’s

What’s your solution and how will it be paid for not using taxpayers money.

Do you think think the local council taxpayers money in Kent should be used to provide truckstops for Stobarts, Johny foreigner etc with free parking,
Do you think the private operators will like the competition, would you like it if the taxpayer started running a distribution company to undercut your rates ?

Remember this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_F … orporation

Chap i knew bought shares in them when they were privatised :grimacing:

Its not been owned by moto for couple years now

Freind of mine is management who now own site
Old services been converted to their hq and rented offices services relocated to other buildings and rented out to costa etc

Cant blame them for charging would you let people knock your front door for a free shower

Most Europe pay 2-3 euro for shower if clean all good
If was still free our ee cousons would b qued up and doing their monthly washing
And you wouldn’t get to use anyway

Fuel, toilets, washing facilities, parking, refreshments. To be honest, its easier to say what you don’t need from them, i.e Hotel, conference rooms, gaming machines, bookmakers

Its not really a “free market” though is it, its more like what i’d call a “cartel market”? They just open up now like retail shopping malls on the Motorway. And yes, after creating a massive shopping mall they’d need more of a return i’d imagine.

You think taxpayers money should not be spent on its own infrastructure?

There’s either a need for parking or there aint. If there’s a need then yes the money needs spending. I’ve personally got no need for more high speed rail links, but its my taxes going to pay for them.

In Leigh Delamere today I noticed that a pack of 16 paracetamol was £3.49. In Tesco yesterday they were 22p.

People can queue up at my house and have free showers all day if they are prepared to let me rip them off for over £3 any time they have a headache.

Aaah why didn’t you say lol
Moto are operators of the site from the landlord.
Happening more and more with things moving about, The sites may be owned by a landlord and operated by others ie Moto, welcome break etc,
The latest operator seems to own the freehold and rent the units out as a business plan and generally at the back of all these seems to be foreign banks and ‘investment’ companies.

Mike-C:
Stuff about Msa’s

Don’t disagree with a lot you say, cant see it happening but things are changing slowly, for better or worse is another question

Just parked at the aforementioned services for the night. Was gutted when I went in to pay and the cashier didn’t ask for my reg number. :imp:

Is anything open there of a night? I’m sure last time i went it was all closed apart from the petrol station bit.

Shuts at 10pm Mike according to the girl in the petrol station. There are 24 hr toilets next to the petrol station, fine if you’ve a strong constitution!

How long till they start charging you for a pish… 30pence nowadays in the train station
