Deffo gone, apparently bought a caf somewhere and owns half the one that’s there now. Was a nice bloke alright, don’t know where the caf is but wouldn’t mind checking it out.
I asked for the camel burger, but he got the hump.
Kangaroo & Zebra Burgers will be making a comeback this Thursday 1/4lb £5
The cockaleeky soup put me off !
On the subject of roadside cafes with a difference; here’s another.
Green Goat Cafe, on A487 from Aberystwyth about 1 mile outside Machynlleth. Home-made food (even bake their own bread) plenty of vegetarian options, daily lunch menu, uses locally-sourced meats and veg.
It’s not yer average greasy spoon; the two lads who run it rent the caravan off another operator and it’s stipulated in their contract that they cannot offer an “all-day breakfast” although they do offer bacon sarnies (treacle-cured bacon on home-made bread) and other stuff. They offer a lunch for a fiver, and every time I’ve been there it’s smelled beautiful although since i’m on day work I have sarnies and only stop there for a brew. The place is also spotlessly clean and lorry drivers are made very welcome.
We often moan about the lack of variety in cafes. Fair play to these lads for daring to be different. Give 'em a try if you’re passing even if its only for a brew.

Use to stop on the A358 (M5 - Taunton junc) - the van that used to be in the lay-by before they built the Park n Ride - always did good food, the night guys were always a good laugh, a few of the “questionable locals” used to hang out there, chatting to the local & motorway Police.
The owner got screwed over big time by the Council to get him moved off to build the PnR

Yeah, was always a good stop for a cuppa. The council could have easily just moved the layby back into the entrance slip.
It’s back there now, I tipped there this morning. Didn’t fancy a zebra burger at 0615 though although I’d probably give it a try later in the day.

Was always a good place to eat , although it could be difficult finding a space in the layby !
