Way back last century I was toying with the idea of fitting one to our fleet instead of a crane. The salesman from Kooiaap bought a demonstrator and he told me that it was his father who had come up with the original idea. He had a business washing bulbs in Holland and very few customers had forklifts on site.
He got one made in a local workshop and after some trial and error started using it. Loads of people saw it and asked him where he got it from, so Kooiaap was born. Moffet are Johnny-come-latelys from Ireland and the two companies eventually merged.
The original inventor was called Cage, and Kooiaap literally translates as monkey cage.
