Mod 2 money making scheme!

Best of luck to you too mate! That pdf is real good aswell thanks very much for the share will help alot of us n00bs taking this stupid test!

All very boring stuff but needed for new drivers sadly!

Sorry but I disagree. Driver cpc is long overdue. When I was let loose in the early seventies I didn’t even know how to couple and uncouple a trailer, let alone load it! So we found out the “hard way”. But how can that be right? Surely the stuff that is taught on intitial driver cpc is vital information for a new driver. Taught correctly it’s far from boring and it’s not hard.

I suggest you make sure you have the correct training material and spend time studying it. I’ve never heard of anyone failing the Mod 2 twice - so there’s something wrong somewhere.

Most of the stuff you need to know for Mod 2 is contained in the normal LGV theory study material so it really shouldn’t be a problem if that was learned thoroughly.

I’m not being critical (though I know it sounds like that) I’m more curious to understand what’s happening.

All the best with it and let’s hope you get it next time around! Pete

What is mod 2 and mod 4■■
Ive read that people are failing these, and that they are CPC, but what are they??

Im currently 14 hours into my CPC and have never done a pass/fail test.

It baffles me how anyone can sit in a training room (as it sounds) for 2 days and not understand the structure of driver cpc. I presume this is yet another case of poor training where this hasn’t been explained to the group. But with the increasing frequency of audits, the standards will rise. And correctly so.

And no, I don’t think you’re either stupid or thick. Just a victim of the system that allows poor training to continue at the moment.

All the best, Pete

The current initial dcpc module 2 needs to be changed for a test on drivers hours and tachographs as that would benefit newbies more

Some will say that the periodic dcpc has such courses but there is no test on those to determine if the person has assimilated the info correctly

We are doing the initial training not the perodic training? Its a good idea but in the current format it is just wrong!

What a load of tosh , too hard too pass so then it becomes wrong or a money making scheme , do your revision and pass , it’s not hard

Sorry, still don’t agree! Not much wrong with the current format. Some of the training on offer is of dubious quality though. If I were in charge it would be much more in depth and certainly include driver’s hours and tachos. As it is, a tiny bit of info on the subject gets you through the theory tests and there is no element of it on any practical tests apart from demonstrating how to change a chart or, on digitach, show him where the calibration sticker is. Big deal!!

Ok so what entitles people who passed before 97? Was there some international training event I missed or something?

Because a training system has to start at some point :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I mean pre 97 LGV C1 holders who got it free with car licence but are in effect no more qualified than most of post 97 holders unless they have been driving C1s for a living!!!

Peter, do you think the current theory mod 2 should be changed to a test on drivers hours and how to use tachos?

Could certainly include more on hours and tachos to make the hours work in scenarios   . Pete

Hi Pete,

I didn’t say that I didn’t understand the structure of CPC. I just didn’t understand what people were talking about regarding MOD 2 and MOD 4 pass/fail tests, as this wasn’t a requirement for my LGV Licence.

I am well aware that newly qualified drivers get the DCPC qualification with their licence now, I just wasn’t clued up on the way it was gained.

Thank you for clearing this up.

I myself found CPC training very informative and feel I benefited from taking part. Although I must say it seems to be costing more and more to have a career as an LGV driver.

Pleased you found the cpc training of use. My point was that the system should have been fully explained so that the group would fully understand how cpc works for established and new drivers. Sorry if I got the wrong end of the proverbial. Pete

noworries i did my revision, ive already went over the driver cpc book 3 times, remember theres no answers in the book, it just prepares you for mod 2 test, and the mod 2 test there some questions in test ive never even seen before, it is all mostly common sense, ive just missed it by 1 and 3 questions the 2 times i did it, i know ill get it, its just when, booked again anyway for the 4th april
