Mobile network coverage

Always baffled me why phone companies are allowed to keep charging the same amount after 24 months when the handset is paid for…

Not really an issue anymore I think and they’re all mostly the same.

How come in the OP it says I’m not interested in cost, yet every reply is about the cost?

Maybe because I think they are taking the ■■■■? I wonder how many people don’t know any better and just keep paying twice as much they should? At this point in time they are charging £55 for a monthly sim….

Yea I know £30 a month is pocket change. Call me old fashioned if you want but it’s more about the principle of it. Loyal customer for many years and first opportunity they get, they’re trying to rip me off.

Personally I feel starlink is the better option for me. Hopefully it will become more widely available soon.

I think you will find people are explaining what network they are on and cost and inclusive data to give you an idea of what deals are about or have been about. No one has done it to take the ■■■■ as you put it.

Once a contract comes to an end and the contract has been paid off you can ask to go SIM only for a better deal, have you asked for a SIM only deal with your current provider?

You say it isn’t about cost yet complain your paying the same amount as you were to have the phone and contract in the first place. So I’m rather confused, either it is about cost or it isn’t?

Your options are, ask for a SIM only deal with your current provider or switch to another provider sim only, or go for one of the lesser known network that piggy back off other networks.

Beware though when using a provider that uses another network, for example some things are not included when doing so, for example WiFi calling isn’t available on a lot of the cheaper networks piggy backing on another providers network. I used this in Wales on 3 but Tesco mobile and Plusnet don’t offer WiFi calling, so out of 3 of us I was the only one who could make calls in a farmhouse with no signal.

Cheaper providers are cheap for a reason usually, same goes with car insurance, check what is included and what isn’t before making a decision on what you want.

£28 quid SIM only currently on EE for unlimited.

So if you’re happy with EE why not request a new SIM only deal?

It will tie you in to a new 24 month contract for that price. Is it being tied into a new contract that bothers you?

[WiFi calling

True but keep in mind personal calls could be made over WhatsApp, agreed business calls may not be possible.

I’m well aware of using WhatsApp or messenger etc to make calls on WiFi. The point I’m making is that cheaper providers are cheap usually because they don’t get all the bells and whistles. It is worth checking out what is or isn’t included to compare a provider like for like. You usually get what you pay for with most things.

That is just one of the many reasons I’ve stuck with 3 for donkeys years rather than swapping and changing, same with sky broadband, I’ve been with them for donkeys years. Yes I could possibly get cheaper prices but I’m happy with what I pay and the service I get.

If anyone is on virgin media TV at home there in partnership with 02 . And you can get a discount being a virgin customer
Basically I rang virgin about 4 months ago as was having problems.
Package I have is £100 a month for that get I get a landline with free landline calls broadband and TV minus sports and film.
When I rang they sorted the problem said by the way we’re teamed up with O2 virgin volzt think it’s called
Story short they took out a sim only contact on 02 they immediately lowered my virgin bill by £25
And sim only contract got was £20 from O2 on sepereate bill so saved 5 a month or could use said card as unlimited text calls and high data use.
And once contract expires just cancel it.
It’s a save which ever way you look at it

I’ve always found three good, better coverage than my work O2. Also get loads of free roaming in Europe and america with 3.
