Middle East - Not Astran!

An example

Rynart was a major Dutch player on the Middle-East run from quite early on. From time to time it seemed to change its livery and its company name, so I’m just trying to work out the order of names. Am I correct in thinking that the order was:

Rynart Transport
Rynart Trucking
Rynart Trucks
Rynart Trading

Ro,

Good question but quite a puzzle to research…but Rinus Rynart wrote a book on 50 years transport in several languages, please check at:

www.rinus.rynart.nl/book-impression/

Unfortunately the company ran into a harsh bankruptcy (€ 88M loss!!!) and not sure if they are still/again active in Holland.

the link apparently was wrong…please try rinus-rynart.nl

I used to have that book! Unfortunately it went missing during one of my house moves :unamused:

There is another book written by a family-member, but very rare hence expensive

I know that Mammoet, specialists in worldwide heavy haulage are everywhere now, but does anyone know if they did runs down to the Middle East in the '70s and '80s at all?

Could the DAF on the left be one of their Middle-Easters perchance?

Just sitting here trying to remember what M/E countries Sovtransauto got to in the '70s & '80s. I’m sure Saudi wouldn’t let any commi-bloc lorries in, including Hungarocamion IIRC. Perhaps they were allowed into Syria, as they were more Russia friendly.

They had depots there, but I don’t think they ever drove down there, everything was loaded on their own vessels and shipped to the M/E.

(You do have the option to give a “heart” for thanks if you like)

Much as I appreciate the friendly ‘nudge’, I do feel that in these circumstances the clicked heart is for infants and Americans. Though I respect the culture of infants and Americans, I reserve the right to stick to my own English adult culture of actually thanking a poster who has gone to the trouble of replying to my question without having to do so in more than the nine characters required to say ‘thank you’.

I largely concur.
However there were several comments on the old forum requesting such a feature, now it’s here little used.
