Thought I’d add a couple of pics I have, my grandad use to drive merc’s for Coulling Bros of Lenham Kent, his first was a 1418LP which he said had a nice cab but that was about it, a 2028 which I think was his favourite as he is always saying about how “slow” but how “reliable” it was. His last one before retiring was a 2534 which is the vehicle I spent most of my time with. He liked how fast it was but it wasn’t as reliable as the 28. I have an old 1619 and an 1831 which both took my years to find! All my grandads old wagons went for export
If this 1632 was first registered in Italy, I wonder if it has the uprated 354bhp Italian spec engine rather than the 320 the rest of the world got. Now a right hand drive, drawbar, 354bhp that is a rarity.

Hey, In 1977 came the new law for 8hp/10 ton, so it could be the normal 1632 320hp.
In Italy normal the type was 1932( heavy driveaxle), and dann it can have the Om403X with 17.4 liters and 352hp.
Still annonced as 1932.
Eric,
I got this new in 89, it was a flying machine, so fast that the mirrors would swing back into the doors about 200rpm after it went off the clock!
Drove this old banger around Adelaide & surrounding areas for a while in 2012 very often pulling a trailer ,the old girl had a thirteen speed fuller in it

This one:
Yes- if it is a 403X, it is a very rare beast indeed.

Was that a conversion of the typical evil nasty factory synchro or a factory fit on the basis of put the right gearbox in it or we’ll leave it ?.
But absolutely turbo V8 Merc with 13 speed fuller had to be one of the best specs available anywhere.

Most older merc’s out here have a fuller box in them some have that weird fifteen speed with the splitter operating deep reduction
Anyone remember Radcliffe International out of South Norwood,South London SE25? They were based up a small one way system off a main road and ran these Mercs in a maroon colour with box trailers. Their work was film location, TV, theatre production, ballets, concert touring etc around the UK and Europe throughout the 70s and 80
s. I believe that when the boss, Geoff Radcliffe sold out they were bought out by Luckings. As a side line I believe he used to collect steam traction engines. I remember seeing at least one in their yard. Long time ago now though.
