MAT TRANSPORT

First time iv’e seen a MAT step frame tilt.

Archie Paice:
Some good photos there of Ray Mercer’s Scania. I worked with Ray for a couple of years when MAT were at Brighton Street. A really nice bloke, I wonder what he’s doing these days.

Sadly Ray Mercer passed away a few years ago Archie.Still in contact with his son. Younger Ray. Only say younger Ray becouse theyve kept the name Ray Mercer going. I believe 4 generations of Rays now. Very Good friend of mine and Mr Dave Clarkes is the present Mr Ray Mercer (oldest ). There’s sum stories to be told about Ray’s 110. But we’ll leave that for the pub… The Ray Mercers name lives on in Hull as Ray Mercer Tyres… New/ budget or part worn. Ray is ya man. ( and he don’t scratch ya wheels either…

An interesting picture! The chimney behind the FIAT/MAT states “GARAGE HELMES”
who were major KRUPP-distributors in Venlo-region (a place called Tegelen where
also Chris Hudson had their yard/office) with Interlimburg as a large account.

Here yo go Akula. If you google them, you go straight to the company websites too.

Just noticed William Bowker died last month. transportengineer.org.uk/tra … 17/161056/
Looking for earlier posts with photos of Bowker vehicles contracted to MATs but many have been removed from Trucknet. Brian Perry and Cliff Leader would have had fond memories of Bowkers before moving to MAT Hull.
Regards KEV

I have seen BBV463B and PCB878J Border with MAT TILT on trucknet. Glanced over Bowkers photos and noticed your username 240 Gardener. Thanks for info Regards KEV

Bumped this up for Buzzer to peruse

Hiya,
I wish I’d a quid for every ton of goods I’ve hauled for MAT’s when on for
WH Bowker. Come to think of it a bob a ton would get me a nice cruise.
