I was pulling for MAT in the 1970’s from Hull doing France and Italy. We didn’t have much to do with the people at Arnold House, although I did know a few people there later on. I never knew George Attipa at that time, but did have the displeasure of doing a job for him, when he was running his own company Mondial, doing Greek work.

Had the sad news joe jaques passed away R I P JOE

Hi matman.Forgive my ignorance but was the Joe Jaques the same one who worked for Stolk in Holland during the 80s.Mike

Hullo MatMan,
I’m sorry to hear the news that Joe Jaques has died. When did this happen ? If it is recent when is his Funeral.
I knew young Joe quite well, I also knew his Father Tony Jaques who was the Yard Foreman at the Hull Depot when it was down at Brighton Street. I well remember Joe starting for MAT, he was living up Brandholme then. And he was for a time the youngest driver there at MAT. When he went on holiday, he was abit skint, so Tony asked me if could help him out. I lent him my Wife’s Austin 1100 for a week to take his family off to Devon. The last time I saw him was at the Border at Horgas. He was driving an old black Volvo 88, I don’t remember who’s it was, he was on his way home from Damascus. I was on the way out. He was a nice bloke far too young to die.
R.I.P. JOE

Last week do not no when funeral is yet i first meet joe when he was driving for frezzingelly from trento before he came back to mat

Thank you. I know exactly where it is. I don’t think I can make it as I have booked a Ferry and a Flight from Portugal. Are you going ? Do you know Joe’s family or their address, I could st the least send a card to them.
