You worry about YOUR cab and visions and do YOUR job and I’ll do mine how I want to do it thank you.
Dunno why people worry or care about what others are doing. Need to get a life people .
As rob says, each to their own.
[zb] me
Oh and scanner, mine don’t have the tassels on
That’s the thing. Your lack of vision could affect my life and how i do my job.
Need to see other people, people.
I can see what I need to see. When I’m sat back in my chair what exactly do I need to look directly right for? Look across the motorway to other spot other lorries? No thanks, rather look forward at the road.
Anyway enough from me. Til u sit in my seat and look around u don’t have a clue what I can n can’t see.
Rob K:
Hands up who wants to bet that retro and premium also drive with their front fog lights on?
All those that put their hands up have just lost! Front fog lights are for when its foggy!
However who the hell do u think u are? Judging me on what I do and don’t do! Until I cause an accident that can be blamed on my curtains covering my mirrors the they’ll stay!
A lot of people in the trucking world wonder where the camaraderie has gone out of this job! Can u wonder at it? Whilst everyone on here is getting at everyone else thru the keyboard the real issues are getting away with it!
Ie: the pathetic dcpc, cabotage, treated like ■■■ at delivery points, substandard MSA’s, the list is endless!
Why don’t we all stop getting at each other and get together and try and improve our job and conditions?

Big +1
Won’t happen Rob. Too many do gooders , yes men and wannabe police on here .
More interested in what the truck next to them is doing rather then what really matters in the job, like said list ^

I have noticed lately that the ones who pull out and almost side swipe me, almost always (99%) are the ones with curtains blocking the side view.
I’ll put it to you that you’ve just been unlucky with the guys that have side swiped you, and I’ll apologise on their behalf. However my opinion is that the guys that have such curtains take pride in their trucks, therefore are less likely to pull out on you, not for your safety however but to prevent damage on their pride and joy, and once again I’ll ask the question: Is it wrong to take pride in what you drive day in day out?
Have one of the mods seen their arse today, I put on a subtle joke about a certain female Stobby driver’s curtains, with no banned words with the level of innuendo no more explicit than you see on a 30yr old Carry On film and it’s been removed, is some fragile soul on here THAT easily offended and reported it or is the mod just recovering from a sense of humour by pass… ffs!
I’ve driven day cabbed tippers with curtains, carpet on the engine tunnel and bar towels on the dashboard, and I’ll say forget whether it looks like it’s owned by a Ladyboy OD from Brighton, it’s a hayfever haven because of the quarry dust ingrained into such items.

Chair. Your use of that word confirms to me that you’re not a driver.

■■■■■■■ seat then. Might Aswell be an arm chair nowadays.
Your correct I’m not a driver I haven’t roped and sheeted so I’m not a proper one anyway

I’ve got a couple of colleagues who are into the curtains obscuring the windows thing.
If I think about the damage they have caused to their trucks, our trailers and cars parked in our yard I would say their professional pride is a little misplaced. I even had to wash one of their trucks before it was fit for me to borrow.
Personally, after tramping for nearly twenty years at home and abroad. Taking good care of the trucks and loads I have been trusted with, the curtain thing has passed me by.
Now, I’m trying to be friendly. I can see the point of a fitted table in a truck you live in, the same with floor mats and a duster gun (the foreign firms I’ve worked for even provided these things)
I can even understand buying some thicker, nicer curtains to keep the light out and the cab relatively homely and comfortable, just why is it though, do these curtains need to obscure your windows?
