A drop of two stroke oil mixed in the diesel once in a while keeps these components lubricated, and use only MAN genuine fuel filters.
On the subject of adding two-stroke oil to diesel, I’ve read elsewhere that people do this, I asked my fitter what he thought of the idea and he said it would probably be best not to do it, although that may simply be because it hasn’t been recommended by the manufacturer, but is it a universally good idea on any truck or can it cause its own problems?
I’ve heard a drop of regular engine oil is useful every now and then too, it burns carbon deposits etc off the injectors as it has a higher burn temperature and helps with lubricity.
■■■■■■■ used to have a system where it pumped some of the used dirty oil into the fuel tanks, there was a tank of fresh oil that automatically topped up your oil level as the dirty stuff went in the fuel tank. It was outlawed by emission regs.
A gallon of Lucas upper cylinder lubricant would probably be best though, for the sake of twenty five quid, no point putting anything else in the tank.

it wont cause any problems, many folk now do this the idea is to add a bit of lubrication as modern diesel is lacking in that area, if you were to add two stroke oil use a good quality stuff like stihl
don’t use synthetic engine oil as when it burns it will leave an ash residue in the top end of your engine

Lucas is excellent in any common rail diesel. Stanadyne also make an excellent fuel conditioner…available from any John Deere dealer!
Quote The ABS light would come on when hooked up to certain trailers, 1st I was told that there was a ‘Compatability’ problem, but I kept annoying the fitters with defects & eventually they checked the trailers out & found some of the sensors were knackered ! They keep trying to tell me that the warning lights are a bit too sensitive, but I won’t be Fobbed off with ‘Fitter Speak’ just to save them a job
