Why? Feel the need to make light of this situation dieseldoforme
Im not usually one for getting annoyed by people on trucknet, but get a grip you guys. It doesnt matter who said or did what, and involved who - foreign or home based. Surely the point is being missed, Its one of our own - wont be going home for tonight, tomorrow or how long until fit. He was doing HIS job - just like YOU or I. I hope he recovers speedily, and can once again turn a wheel. It is also bad for our industry too, as this scene would have been witnessed by tens of thousands of motorists, who (as most car drivers are blinkered ) will just see yet another truck crash.
I know I’m going to sound a bit CSI, but there is one inescapable fact here, that Scania was not maintaining a safe distance from the vehicles in front.
Now I know there are many possible causes for the vehicles in front to stop suddenly, like engines seizing and all kinds of other reasons.
But unless that driver was transported here from another planet at the start of his shift, he must be aware that on the busy stretches of motorway, traffic will stop suddenly for no reason.
So you should always leave a safe gap in front of you to avoid running into someone and injuring/ killing yourself when it all stops suddenly.
I know all the reasons why drivers do not do this, people pulling into the gap you leave, you will never make the booking times, you won’t get home in your hours, blah, blah, blah.
But seriously, imagine laying in a hospital bed and waking up, reaching down to feel your legs have been amputated, or worse, imagine your family sat waiting outside the operating theater as they amputate your legs, or worse still your family never seeing you again as they can’t have an open casket as you’re body has been smashed to smithereens by the twisted metal of your cab.
Dramatic? Yes, but I’ll bet you any money you like, that Kemball driver wishes he had a bit more room to stop.
That said, I hope the driver makes a speedy and full recovery.

It is obvious to The Professional Driver that this incident occurred due to human error
or an act of god or a medical condition or a mechanical failure.

.Your dots are [zb] annoying me now if I could shove them up your arse I gladly would.

Doing my CSI impression, where do you get the above from?
Looks, from the pics above that, the Kemball lorry was in lane 2/3 and the DAF in lane 1/2. The DAF has jacknifed into the Kemball, not the Kemball ramming it from behind.
This safe distance crap is spouted for every accident on here, you can have a clear road in front in your lane and the truck your overtaking can jacknife causing you to crash into it, which looking from the above pic may have happened here. Someone will still say its your fault as you haven’t kept a safe distance.
Why are some here so deluded?

No matter how good a Driver you are, it only takes a second for an idiot
to maim you for life.
You’ll never see a good Driver tailgating.

Exactly right and that is why so many are bad drivers and the ones that do tailgate always have stupid excuses for doing it! Idiots with no regard for anyones safety.

tango boy try to get things in reality please.I have never professed to be a perfect driver. There are no perfect drivers. All I try to do is not put myself or anyone else in danger.Have you got a problem with that?
Every day you see drivers driving like idiots with no regard for anyones safety.I have never said who or what was at fault in this particular accident but when you see how closely a lot of drivers follow each other it inevitable when something goes wrong that several vehicles will be involved because they cannot stop in time.
I think we all feel sorry for anyone who is injured in a road accident.
