Reporters are well known for twisting the details to make a better story, possibly the police were talking to him while he was in the cab?
It makes it so much more dramatic for people to think that that was how the cab was when he got out, witch of corse could be true but it looks very much like the fire service have cut the roof away as i cant see any other reason why there would be a cleen cut above the doors and the roof would be folded upward like it is, also that pannel that is infront doesn’t look like it was there from the crash

It is also possible that the fire service cut the cab even after he was out just to be sure there wasnt a second person in there

Booked in when??:
I know it’s embarrassing to be seen driving a Scania but there’s no need to do that to it

They are getting worse and worse aren’t they !!! I have a Saab car and LOVE it, the trucks though I’m afraid are just so over rated !

Balls, double post removed !

Where’s the first hero to say I would have walked away from both of them but not if I’d have had my seatbelt on.

Was he strapped in ?

Yep you can just tell that the fire service cut the roof off then lent it back against the bridge parapet. Numpty.

roof and n/s panels fully ripped off spot welds in the impact and jammed between bridge and trailer

The door would have been removed first by the Fire Service once they had stabilised the vehicle, they can’t go climbing all over it, then depending on how a driver was trapped/injured, they would either remove the roof and rear panel and fold it back (a lot of cutting with a sleeper) or make cuts in the front and using hydraulic rams push the front away to gain room. The Paramedic would decide if the casualty has to be removed quickly or if they can be stabilised in place so the Fire Service can extricate using a spinal board, the least amount of movement to a casualty is paramount. The main concern is ‘C’ Spine injury in any collision and most Fire crews will cut a vehicle to remove someone rather than try and ‘wangle’ them out. As I say in the event of the casualty going down rapidly the ‘B’ Plan will be to get them out as quickly as possible and off to hospital, the only place they will get the proper attention. I think in this case the driver has escaped serious injury despite various parts of the cab being ripped away the drivers area is pretty well ok, if the door has been removed by the FS then someone has carefully replaced it back in position, hardly likely. Still gives you a shiver down the spine eh!.
Franky.

Mate of mine just posted this one on FB, apparently happened today as well; anyone know more details?

The TNT crash was on Monday 13th Feb on the M6 at Coleshill. Driver ok apparently.
See lower half of this page… http://www.birminghampost.net/news/west-midlands-news/2012/02/14/in-pictures-two-lorry-crashes-on-m6-near-coleshill-cause-motorway-chaos-97319-30328183/

Having driven artic for 8 yrs now & in that time I’ve seen some bad accident’s now these photo’s plus getting made redundant shortly {Thanks E.S.} its made me think do I want to carry on driving them for another 6yrs. It also means paying for the rest of my CPC also renewing my licence in a few years I think NO I’ve had enough. Time for a career change for the next few years.

I dont like Topics about Accidents and comment it as its mainly Luck or unluck to have it or not,as well as to survive or not. Most driver dont crash as Hobby and its not Professionalism to walk away. Its just Luck or Unluck.

Geesh, I went past that gaping hole left by the livestock waggon last week, ■■■■■■ mahoosive hole it left in the trees, as I went past I hoped the driver had made it out ok !! Glad to hear he did.

Did he fall asleep when he hit the bridge support, or was it a lapse of concentration, for sure as hell, i cant understand how he managed that with no one else involved…at least he`s alive.
The nobby dressingtable was a very lucky guy as well to walk from that, perhaps he dont like trees.
And as for the TNT, thats absolute dynamite
