£80 per day for tramping is a bit harsh but I suppose if its euro work, there’s lads would pay the firm to do it.

Like i said its not the best money. I got to Barcelona center this morning, that was fun in the rush hour. Im all tipped and dont re load till Wed everning. So will have to find a bar and help the Spanish economy.
I left Calais Friday afternoon so just had a leisurely drive down. And now i get paid to sightsee for a couple of days8-)

I must say i was abit surprised to see a downtons lorry the other day waiting to board the boat.

I think they do a bit of euro. I’m sure I read on here a few years back that they go to Spain. Didn’t it used to be printed stuff like mags etc?

Downtowns used to take ink in tanks to spain from what was BASF near Horsham.

They took the work from a now defunct local haulier RT Page.

Pretty sure RT Page are still going, could be wrong though!

Finished up around 4 or 5 years ago Scanner. In fact RT Page is the original company name and they were Page Group for a good few years before the end.

Are you perhaps thinking of RM Page who run load loaders in association with PlantSpeed?. They have white trucks with red detailing where as Page Group were always red trucks and generally curtains ideas although they did dabble with a bit if timber on flats for a while…

Im not certain but Page Group may still be running a Pallet service but the general haulage side is definitely gone.

RM Page with the low loaders shut up a couple of years ago. Metcalf Farms do much of their old work.

Yes and no Cypry0.

RM Page and sons was closed down by Bob Page around 3 years ago and all of the kit auctioned off. One of the sons, backed by PlantSpeed, set up again as RM Page Ltd with a couple of trucks bought at the auction as well as a couple of ex PlantSpeed trucks. The yellow trucks are now long gone and all trucks are in the same livery as PlantSpeed but with the Page name on them.

they found the tacho needle had been bent

It was an amateurish way of hiding evidence of speeding. People would bend the stylus slightly downwards so they could do a higher speed than the card was marked at.

Obviously, it didn’t just mark it differently at motorway speeds and was very easy to detect.

whoever done it they made it so it showed you were doing 70 instead of 60 and because of that ■■■■ i could have been nicked

Re Luckings, ive been there since November and havent been asked to run bent.
Like has been said its mostly theatre work and music tours. You tend to work most w/e as that is when the theaters change shows. They also do euro work, im currently on my way to Barcelona for Monday am. Then load out Wed pm. You get paid for sitting and weekly breaks if away.
Its £80 a day M-F 100 Sat Sun £25 n/o. Not the best money but it depends on what you need.

i was there 16 years ago, they were not so hot on rules and regs then, obviously they have changed
