Just had a nice phone call off our gaffer saying we’ve just had a pay rise. From £34,417 a year basic to £40,000 over time after 12 hours a day at £19.10 an hour, extra shifts Mon-Fri at £16.75 Saturdays at £19.10 and Sundays at £25.60. Daren’t tell our lass
You down at Cawthorne? My mate just started this week down there on 4/4
Yeah pal been with Woodlands since they took the contract over from Ken Mallisons who I worked for for 11 year. 9 of us left to join Woodlands when they took the contract on as we had been doing it at Mallys.

You’ll been going back on 6 days a week
You still on for Woodlands?
Not when I’m on that pay for 4 on 4 off I won’t
Yeah still working for Woodlands. Got brand new Mercs coming with microwaves fitted, built in sat navs and air con pods anorl at some point.
I used to do 4 nights a week before moving to a new contract which was 5 nights. Just recently moved back onto 4 nights I can honestly say I never want to do 5 nights again.
I tried it but just days at maritime a few years ago. I really do get the appeal but I didn’t like the weekends and cab hoping. I wouldn’t do it tramping either because I’m sure it must mean sharing a truck with at least one other driver. 4 on 3 off would be my ideal work pattern, Tuesday to friday or Monday to Thursday would be perfect.
