Now to be honest my digi has a few infringements on and I’m thinking it will be cheaper to say its lost and get another.
Now the question is if I apply for another will Il still be able to use old card till new comes.

Lose it over the Xmas Hols…?

good idea
No, the new one will be cancelled as soon as you report it lost, you can drive for 15 days by doing printouts but you won’t be able to continue using the ‘lost’ card.
Are you going to be able to lose the units you have driven as well? The infringements will be in the tacho heads as well so very little point in losing the card to hide infringements.
Same advice I give anyone who is thinking of trying to hide infringements. Don’t bother, the penalties for the offences are a lot cheaper than the penalties for fraud, forgery and false records, especially as the former don’t carry prison sentences while the latter do.

Alex,
How could you possibly use something that’s ‘lost’ until the replacement turns up?
Then there’s the form to consider…
Here’s the question…
Then there’s a declaration that you’ll need to sign…
Neil isn’t kidding you.
Please think carefully about this.

Chicken Feed.
Do you know what the penalty is for owning a dog that has not got an identity tag on its collar?
£5000 and up to 3 years inside

I’m up for £15k and 9 years then as none of our three labradors even have collars let alone identity tags…

Ok then end of that idea.
Keep researching, there’s always a way. Its like the old days when we found our own little border into Swiss or Austria etc. Never run with the crowd? All my life ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that’ I went & did it. Ran in France going South on Sundays & only got caught once -£60. Crossed the border into Austria many times on a Sunday & drove to destination. It put some fun into the job.

Hi harry,
All fair points above mate and I’ve done most of that myself, but with the kind of luck that I usually have, I wouldn’t fancy signing that declaration if it weren’t 100% correct.
I agree, but this is a public forum so no solutions arrived at on here could be used with safety. I’m off the road now but there was always the lateral thinking way of solving probs. Example. Villar Formosa - Alverca; ran outta time got to Al peage with 13 on the clock. Cop waiting for me, he walks around the truck checking my lights. I whip the tacho disk out & shove it down my shorts. He asks for the disc ,I open up the tacho & he don’t believe me. Takes a look & tells me its my last chance to find it over & over again, then gives me the ‘serious’ stare & warns me not to do it again!! I am about to drive off & he shouts." Put a disk in!!" LOL. I was no good at faking tachos but could always think on my feet.
This is before the Mway & unguarded overnight stops could lead to a mugging.
