What year’s that, Dan? I’m guessing '78? The cab looks somehow different to a lot of 3Cs, I can’t see the front bucket as often a 4 in 1 is a giveaway to a later one.

Must be one of the last ones then Dan; One of our customers still runs an X reg 3cx which they’ve had from new. I can’t see ours lasting 30 years.

I think you can a w reg in 3cx and 3c 111 ,I had a m reg 3c11 yrs ago and although the 3c 111 looks the same they’re worlds apart .

Seeing that birds’ nest photo reminded me of one that was in the rear lights of the Alpha I drove. The nest flew off once I got to 50odd on the A40. I egged my mate who was following me. :smiling_imp:
Birds nests are the scourge of quarry operators; Once they nest in stockpiles you can’t damage the nests so the sand pile is useless, but a grey area approach is to build smaller sloping piles against the face to encourage foxes to climb up. The birds soon look for other lodgings.
We taper our soil piles in the spring to prevent sand martins nesting. If the boss’ Jack Russell can climb up then the birds wont nest there.

That’s the only bird’s nest I’ve come across where I haven’t been able to fill the tank. Other than the parent flying out from under the lid, causing a near-heart attack, it’s not normally a hassle unless the nest’s built around the gubbins.

Wasp’s nests however. More than my fair share. It’s like playing Russian Roulette. Can get away with filling as long as the hose (which vibrates…alot) doesn’t touch the tank. The trick is to be in and out like a Ninja before the little ■■■■■■■■ wake up!

A tiddler that I got away with, just…
