Although not a sussex Haulier, these ran for many years on TOE out of Newhaven,and Shoreham. Who remembers Gordon Taylor who was on TOE from the sixties until he retired in the mid 80’s? Also, Wally drove the Foden on TOE until the un accompanied work finished.

hi all i am a new comer called stoney, as i was on aggregate haulage and general haulage , and if any of you chaps have any photos of farrant and reid of st leonards or of simac transport who were pulling t o e trailers out of newhaven that was when walley wybourn drove for them in the mid seventies. i,m still in contact with some of farrants drivers also i d,ont live far from walley, and the name ray martin may jog some memories he drove for most of the hauliers around the hastings area and for jim boniface in newhaven, best regards to all. We used to service and sell spares to an owner driver from Peacehaven who had a green 6X2 Scania 141 and used to pull TOE trailers out of Newhaven, Ken Nightingale I think his name was!Is he still about albeit retired I dare say!

The fl 10 i had for a while ,there where 3 of them .As for the f12 A494KTA she holds some memorys (the driver in the pic is Brian Basatble)I had her when J D Fairwether picked up the remains of BBT .Went down to savill in Spain and she boiled up over the mountains but still got me home

Hi all must say hello my dad drove for Tomsetts in the 80s 90s (andy king) or handy man on the cb, I know H is still about thought I might add another couple of names jimmy juggernaut, and big G who drove for ,Birdseye I remember bunter very well as the old man use to go and show the truck at all the shows and being a member of the south coast truckers club. As a kid I spent every holiday tramping with the old man. Toddington on Friday night was full of truckers from Sussex.

That brings back memories of Friday nights in Toddington sat there drinking tea and talking for half the night then an early Saturday morning run through London, also remember before the M25 was finished when we used to use Scratchwood on a Friday night.

Went to Wallys funeral yesterday in Eastbourne, sadly he died last week, very fond memories of him, driving the lorries for Simacs and over the years out of Newhaven. He was one of the best, RIP Wally
