yeah, Armitges are still going. They used to run a fleet of 3800 dafs with stars all over the cabs. Just off j35 of the m1 at birdwell . Towmasters had a few depots around but dont know who took them over. Did you ever see the older driver with a beard driving for Brownies,a very good friend of mine from years ago.His wife was the drivers mate when he was carrying combineharvesters,or any wide loads come to think of it. Do you remeber the sugar tankers from beside the a1 at lincoln, cant remember their name at all but they had blue scanias pulling curtain siders and tankers with white sign writing .
Probably might know him if i see him.
So Armitages are still going, that was them with the stars around the cab.
Was that firm with the blue scanias called BWH, at north muskham nr newark. Think they were taken over by John Pocklington, they’re no longer in the old yard at north muskham.

I remember BWH Transport, blue wagons and did work for British Sugar IIRC,and I used to know what BWH stood for but it’s gone…somebody will know I’m sure.
All Transport International formerly (Joe Priestley)
HB&H
Bernard Flowers
All three from Newton-le-Willows and sadly all gone
Houston’s (jimmy houston transport) from Armadale nr doncaster, light blue lorries with a silver stripe and HOUSTON TRANSPORT in ■■■■■■■■■ lettering.
Used to see them quite regular in the early 90s when i used to load out of Fisons fertilizer out of sandtoft and swinefleet…
I was at Greenwoods at Hoddesdon for 10years. I drove an AEC mercury until a new Clydesdale came along. I did the Penzance run and lived in Mullion in Cornwall. I have pictures of both trucks and will dig them out of the album and post them next time. It was the best company I have worked for and all the drivers really got on well with each other. I remember Blossom he was a good friend. Also Archie who drove one of the Fiats and Sam the Other Cornishman drove the other. Mike and Bill drove the Scammels. So many good memories of good times.
