Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

I remember a haulage firm from S/ton. delivering to Pirrelli Ltd Sandy Lane North Gosforth in the 60/70s. cant bring the name to mind, but they were a preety big outfit in those days, any answers.■■? Regards Larry

Gettoni’s for Italy Jim, in Spain you had a piece of wire that you wrapped around the metal handset cable and stuck it into the centre hole of the mouthpiece when the call connected and if you timed it right your money never got used and you could talk for ages.

Hi Gazzer see it’s been a long time think I only ever went to Spain a few times ! See you got all the good jobs!!

I think Bakers Transport did a lot of Pirelli work then later A E Stratton (Limey Green Lorries) did most of the work, later still Pirelli’s took over Meachers Transportwho then obviously did the work.

I dare say there were other hauliers involved

I’ll be surprised if I’ve got one right but is that the corner of Adams Morey in the background? Redbridge roundabout before the M271 was built?
