You’re not butting in at all deckboy…it’s an open forum to be used by all.

Late? Sorry didn’t know but coming to us all without doubt, death and taxes? Yeah a decent friendly bloke who showed me what’s what when loading China clay in the early 90’s down in the St.Austall area when on my short lived container career, he had a FL10 then with Charrett I think. One of the characters you look back on with fondness and a smile.
The FL10 was one of Stan Trans old units sold off when he packed it in IIRC

Hi All,
Just a quick note to get us off page 2 and to warn you all not to listen to Mappo’s tales of retirement, this arrived in our weekly Harrods delivery today,it would seem Tony has his own vineyard, furthermore rumour has it he removes his sandals before treading the grapes, but leaves his socks on to give it some flavour It also says on the label it has been passed by the management
Regards
Richard

Looks to have been checked for taste as I am sure they fill the bottles before selling them.
Looks a funny colour to me. What does that pale yellow remind you of? Regards Charlie

Sorry to spoil your Birthday celebrations Tony (Still Partying No Doubt)
Some people with Calor connection might know him, But Alan Ewald lost his long battle with cancer on friday
He worked there from a boy as my Dad got him the job there when he worked for Monkton motors, He not only looked after my lorries (never had a MOT fail) but he looked after Johnny Hardings RIP Charlie Hannam & Martin Stainers M&S Freight, he did drive a bit for Forklift people at Ower & Swissy
A bloody good engineer & Friend
GOD fleet is in good hands.
JeremyRIP Alan… proper fitter, got me out of the s**t many times whilst i was working for TDG and later Mikron Gas Services. condolences to friends and family.
I worked with Alan at Calor Millbrook for about 7 years. He was a brilliant fitter and nice bloke. Although had a slightly short fuse in certain situations! All forgotten in a flash though and a thoroughly nice bloke. Sad to hear he’s no longer with us.
In my latter years at Calor I was driving a " Mini Bulker " delivering Propane to ( very ) rural properties that had no mains gas. Alan was the Pilot of the BIg Red Rescue Van and came out to me many a time to drag me out of collapsed ditches or a foot of mud. He was a wizard with the winch and big air bags. R.I.P. Alan.

Harrods eh Richard? Your Ad Hoc legal work must be very well paid…
Am going through these pages catching up and I got to wondering about Martin Lyons. Last I heard , and it was way back ) he was a Director at Frigoscandia or if not them another big Fridge Haulier…
Anyways, hope you and Angie are well. Oh, is that wine of Mappos like him? Rich and Full Bodied?
Drinking on the job in front of the computer (Paperwork■■?)
hope you don’t make a mistake & pay HMRC TOO much money
Jeremy
Is see you are keeping up with the haute couteur of viticulture Richard. I savoured a bottle of red from the same vintner and recommended same to TIR Tone, can’t say where the photo went. Tone will know!
Just a small comment on the Mappo bottle. I note it has to be drunk very cold. It says on the bottle Chile!! Sorry. Regards Charlie .My fault gentlemen. I mentioned the fact to him. Humour him please. He doesn’t have a lot going for him as you well know. Rose
Richard I’ve gotta hand it to you mate…you always make me smile.
This time though I’m afraid you,ve blown my cover…I was just about to pay everyone
a visit with the begging bowl.
Gazzer…yes mate I remember that, but haven’t got a clue where the photo is.
I can’t even remember if you put it on here or FB.
Rose…at least Charlie’s lucky to have you and he’s got loads of mates on here.
Give him my regards and tell him to keep smiling.
All a bit quiet on here… Was just wondering as a new topic, about all the cars we owned back in the day. I imagine that between us we must have owned all of the classics… Some we would wish to have in the garage ( and pension pot ) and some we were happy to see the back of.
Just to start it off… My first was Triumph Renown , followed by a selection of Consuls , then all the Rovers from the 75 to the 3.5 V8 , numerous Minis Capris Wolseys Austins etc etc…Spitfires and MG’s and on to Jags.
Remember " Classics only " lads…
