I usually ship Dieppe/Newhaven. Due to the changes by DFDS, Dieppe got expensive and they pulled out of Le Havre. Brittany stepped in and although it is a bit more expensive than Dieppe, timing is convenient and a cabin was good value. So it will be into LH and some grub, then the boat and some kip.
A night in Bayonne the previous night too! Er Indoors don’t like “one hit”!
Exceptional circumstances: My Dads 80th birthday bash on the Saturday night. Then harvest work starts. Er Indoors flies home Sunday afternoon. 8 weeks of money grabbin’!
Soon be the August Bash!
PS Various DKV cards in possession…do I pass them over one at a time or bung 'em all over the counter?
Hi all! What about the train Gaz ? If we go back to Lake Garda this year I was gonna do the train cos "er indoors " didn’t like the night ferry last year ! ( Portsmouth - LeHavre ) and I thought they were cheaper ■■
R Jimmer.
Charlie, I was talking about getting across the channel with the DKV cards…hadn’t thought about slipping them across in the pub!
Can’t use the train Jim because my car is LPG powered. I always used the tunnel before, it’s cheaper, quick and efficient. Don’t know why they have a restriction on LPG vehicles.
Happy birthday Tony. Cheque is in the post. Buzzer said that he will deliver his by horse post. Have a great day mate and enjoy your retirement. Its all uphill from here. Speak soon. Regards Charlie

A very Happy Birthday to TIR Tone. Aka " Sandals " Mapson . HGV driver extraordinaire , fashion God and all round nice bloke.
Have a good one. Will raise a glass of the black stuff tonight. Cheers! Baldrick.
Many thanks to everyone for your kind but sarcastic wishes.
I,m very humbled and grateful.
Now if anyone has any tips on how to survive on an Old Age Pension It would be appreciated. Lol
“Happy Birthday” and “Happy Retirement” you deserve it after so many years behind the wheel, and before that behind the horses !!
I had a telephone call this morning from an old friend of yours “Fingers” of Mont Cenis fame rang from his villa in Monaco, where together with some of Silvio Berlusconi’s old girl friends he lives in idle luxury,he told me he still remembers your weekly (sometimes twice weekly) visits to his little customs post with the ships stores permit and photcopied backing sheet, which revealed a 10,000 lira note,he thought it was a nice touch when you later had an EEC Blue book, and still put the money inside
He wishes you all the best for the future, and says if you are ever down his way please drop in,but don’t forget the 10,000 lira
All the best for the future from Angela and myself, take it easy.
Kind regards
Richard & Angela x
P.S. There is a Sprinter here with your name on it,and a new pair of sandals ! if ever you want to do the odd day.

Come and help me on the allotment Tone, you paid in spuds and beans but that will impress her in doors and of course you get free tea as well ! ! Buzzer.
‘Happy Birthday’ Tony and also have a long and enjoyable retirement. Don’t worry about survival mate , I’m sure you will cope somehow even if it means digging into your ‘expenses fiddley bank’ (providing you invested wisely).
All the best, Nobby.
A memorable career TIR Tone. Always a laugh even amongst the serious moments. If your licence does re-appear Scattercash would be greatful for a bit of summer help! Sincerest best wishes shag. Gazzer.
I,m filling up ,ere and almost emotional.
I honestly appreciate everyone’s banter and good wishes, and feel privileged to have
made so many true friends during my career…it was a laugh and I have many
treasured memories, for which I am grateful.
Thanks also for the kind offers of work, and will be in touch if I decide to take any of the offers up.
Oh and Richard and Johnnie, I,ve hardly changed at all since those photos.
Typical village scene Tone. All the jubilados (pensioners) hanging about with nothing better to do in the sun.
By all accounts, the women turf them out of the house just as if they were going to work as usual! You could manage a bit of that!
