Ok Charlie, to put you out of your misery, it,s not my manhood that needs surgery.

All that I,m having done is a carpel tunnel op mate. Sorry to disappoint.

Ive been reading these recent posts concerning Tone’s appointment and we should have warning as to the exact date of this op so we steer clear of any Chinese takeaways during the following week, only thinking out loud Buzzer.

Horry…it,s a small one  between Mont Cenis and Mont Genevre :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Just a few words to say I have just returned from Pat (Ainacs) Duffys funeral this afternoon and what a turnout for this well known and liked man, there must have been in excess of four hundred people there and all could not get inside the crematorium. He arrived in true Duffy style on the back of his own heavy haul six wheel scania tractor unit which is what he would have wanted.
He will be missed a great deal by all who knew him even those who followed him on this thread but had never met him, it wont be the same without him and cant quite believe he has gone. So many faces from the past today a lot have aged as I have, some you recognise immediately some you shook there hand and asked some one else who they were afterwards and I bet some of you have been there to, all I can say is RIP Pat, Buzzer.

Well said Buzzer. Respect RIP Pat. Regards to all on this thread Andy

As Buzzer has said what a great turnout for Pats funeral…I felt privileged to have been there.
Nice to see so many old friends there too.
The do at the pub afterwards was I,m sure exactly as Pat would have wanted.
Once again, Rest In Peace Pat…as has been said by many, he will be sadly missed both in
life and on Trucknet.

Amen to that Tone, we’ve all been comrades for the best part of 40yrs and Pat was one of us.

regards GAZ

A sad day for us all,but he would have been proud of the turnout yesterday,so many people coming to show their respect for our old friend, and the memories related by his family and friends.

As John and Tone said countless old faces from days gone by, from the Southampton area international transport scene, some haven’t changed, Steve Matthews trying to sell me an order of service for a fiver :unamused: and GazIOW who was selling roses :unamused: and Terry (Grizzly) making sure no one misbehaved !

R.I.P. Pat we will not forget you.

Richard

I’m hoping I’m on the right thread here, I’m after any photos of a firm from Southampton way called Ingram Furness. They used to use a yard very local to me back in the '70’s or '80’s. I don’t remember them myself and so don’t know what they were like. I only found out today that they were from the Southampton area, so any info would be greatly received…Cheers

Sorry can’t help with any photos but do remember the firm, used to run out of Gerry Ingrams new yard in New Milton and in 1973 ran a Leyland Buffalo the driver was Walt Samber, Knew him quite well as we had worked together for another New Milton transport company and by coincidence I also had a Buffalo in 1973,(in the early days they were flyers before the overheating and crank problems reared their ugley head), when Gerry Ingram died the various departments of the company were disposed of and the Furness section ended up located in the docks at Southampton run by a man name of Laurie, can’t remember his first name, used to call the company Lauries Lorries but ultimatly he upset the drivers and had problems recruiting, he also owned WD Hilary tippers from Winchester but I think they went the same way as Furness under his ‘expert’ management. I think Furness also arranged backloads in the earlier days.
