Buzzer:
Hi Pat i once had a trailer removed from the little spur road on the Basingstoke junction,it was dropped fully loaded with round timber which i had loaded in old Basing and i bob tailed home this was in the early 70’s when diesel was cheap, any way when i went back at 6am in morning the trailer had gone so reporting this to the police they had removed it as they said it was illegaly parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway, anyways i had to go to a recovery yard at Oakley nr Basingstoke and pay them for recovery,no cheques had to be cash and i got a feeling they were called Bakers but its a long time ago so i may be wrong, cheers Buzzer

John,
I had the same thing happen to me in Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh. Them robbin btds from Oakmount (in Rownhams Services) even charged me a call out fee on top of their towing charge because I wanted the trailer back before 6am. i think the night Police patrol got a donation as well!!!

Bit of a puzzler here, trawling the net I came across this picture of a transcon with Hampshire registration. it appears this was a Southampton registered
company …" Wiltongrove International Transport" with office in Castle Way Southampton.
finished trading in 2003.

Anybody remember them?

Colin

Hi Colin looking at that motor it does ring some sort of bell with my little grey cells, especially as its a six wheeled unit i got a sneky suspicion aftere reading the trailer sign writing it was uased to transport forklifts of some sort but i could be wrong, cheers Buzzer.

Is it a left ■■■■■■ ?..with the GB stickers, lights, and girls on the grill, it could have gone abroad, Fiat and Lancia spare parts from Turin perhaps ?

Phill Arcas based in Fareham used to pull those trailers on a round trip from Turin (I think) with Lancia parts to Warrington and then backload back out with beer (Fosters I think) from Abingdon. As for the unit I dont know…

Was that the Phil that used to live in the Bugle pub in Fareham ■■
I think his parents owned it or ran it for a while.

One and the same, had the spanish truck and trailer triangle and squares on most of his vehicles, Black and White IIR, had someone like the ‘Wing Commander’ working for him… Was really pally with Smithy and had his trucks serviced by Sharpee…

Fergie

Cannot remember AE Hume!

TOMMY wasTommy Colecliffe who unfortunately smashed that ERF and we broke it up for him selling the 240 Gardener engine to a dealer in Barnsley

I think Bill Temple used to park up over Hedgend and he was a massive man I think they had to strengthen the seat in that motor for him, I believe he had a brother who was a driver too.

Regards Pat
