Loved the pics. We probably saw more FTFs in Saudi than were knocking about in England then or now - as well as Hanomag Henschells and unterflur Bussings. Oh, that I’d been a photographer! Too busy just living it.

That either betokens that he is indeed the sole custodian of the 100th name for Allah , or that he has carnal designs upon its rider Robert
Hiya Robert…me again. that FTF is a full width motorpanels cab its just got a much wider front axle so mudguards are fitted

I think this one’s always been a sleeper, John. Early pictures of it show the bunks in place. It was ordered by Lowe of Paddock Wood for European fridge work so the driver wouldn’t have spent much time in UK digs. Cheers, Robert
Hello Robert, The crew cab ERF,s where ordered by a municiple company and then cancelled and that how lowes came by them. The top bunk you could see was actualy the back of the seat lifted and hung with a chain, not strong enough to sleep on. You could sleep on the bottom of rear seat if you lay straight all night due to length of bonnet, longer than normal LV. When i have slept in that one i used 3ft wide bed mattess that put me above height of bonnet and better than the modern trucks

Brilliant! Thanks Nev. That’s exactly the kind of historical detail and memory that keeps these threads alive and interesting. And apologies to you, John3300 for doubting your knowledge. This gives a different perspective to some of the info on the ‘LVs with sleeper cabs’ thread, so I’ll go on there now and make a link with the comments here. Cheers! Robert
