newcomerman, do you snore, have you been to a doctor about it NO probally not, i went due to loud snoring and feeling tired during the day, i was tested overnight with machines which diagnoses sleep apnea, i was told to use this machine and all would be fine, i was very sceptical untill i used it, i am a different person, i no longer feel tired during the day , by the way i am not overweight, i weight train on a regular basis and when ever i am parked up for the night i go for an hours brisk walk,i also only consume on average 1300 calories a day. so no you do not have to be FAT to suffer from this, why dont you ask the doctor to check you out, its the drivers that dont get checked and carry on as normal that fall asleep not someone who has it controlled, my insurance company said that as i am now on a cpap machine i would be a safer driver as there is no risk of me falling asleep or feeling drowsy, i hope you never have an illness that could jepordise your career as its very stressfull waiting to find out the outcome. your probally right in what your saying but i still think your a knob, we are all entitled to our own opinion after all
Do I snore? HTF would I know…I’m asleep
but seriously, no I don’t snore, I sleep very well and never wake up feeling tired, although I’m fortunate that my job allows me to run to my body clock, I’m a little overweight, but not because of a pie fetish, just not getting as much exercise as I used to, but I’m doing what I can as far as that is concerned, so I’ll soon be back at my fighting weight.
So having a difference of opinion about something makes me a knob does it
So please tell me, if your CPAP breaks down one night, would you have the following day off work, just in case, after all you may experience drowiness the next day as a result of interrupted sleep?
I too hope that I never have an illness that prevents me from driving, I wouldn’t wish that on anybody, but if I do, well I have no choice but to accept it, that’s how it is, but, if it was something I could change, by being healthier for example, then I would take whatever steps were necessary in a heartbeat, as I’ve said and having done considerable research on this very issue, the majority of sleep apnea cases are linked with obesity, that’s not my opinion, it’s a fact, so there are people that are such gluttons that they have gotten so fat that they cannot lie down to sleep without the aid of a machine to breathe for them, these are the people that should have their licences revoked, as I said, there are people that have it for other reasons, you may well be one of them, but in my opinion that should result in you losing your HGV, yes it’s not your fault, but then it’s not the fault of the epilleptic or diabetic either, they still lose their licence though.
I can imagine how terrible it is to be in this situation, well in all honesty I probably can’t, it must be awful, I do symaphise with anybody in this predicament, even the lard arses who have munched their way into it, but there has to be a line and when you go the wrong side of it, well that’s your lot, think about it this way, you may well use your CPAP and be 100%, but will everybody? No they won’t and that’s why I think sleep apnea should be treated in the same way as Epillepsy etc when it comes to holding an HGV.
