[. Now I only send it off a couple of weeks before the due date.
it’s never taken more than three weeks to be processed. Regards Kev.

So would you get an extra week each year in that case? Or do they run it from last expiry?

The last two years it’s run from the expiry date . Regards Kev.

Thanks for the reply Kev much appreciated
I’ll be 50 this time so it’s a 5 yearly renewal but yeah I’ll wait until maybe end of March to start the ball rolling

As your medical is only valid for 4 months, what happens if they don’t renew the licence before then, even though they had it since 3 days after you saw the doctor?

Over the years I’ve got into the habit of sending my docs by recorded delivery,
a service no longer available, but superseded by signed for delivery which is obviously also date stamped. IMO that’s proof enough to argue a case to the DVLA. But on the other hand who can argue successfully with such a bureaucratic organisation? Regards Kev. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

My renewal went in at the beginning of December, and I’ve got confirmation back online on the 23rd.

A week later the licence physically turned up.

The best way to do it is to send it to the covid department of the DVLA
Its addressed to “Lee Jones, Dvla, Swansea” but not sure of the correct postcode as there is a department for this
maybe ask DVLA online chat for the correct Lee Jones postcode

I think you need to explain the Lee Jones comment, or am I missing something?

In addition to my email to the CEO of the DVLA, ROG suggested I contact Rob S of this forum and explain my plight, so I did.

Rob was very helpful and said he would contact the undersecretary for the dept of tspt highlighting my plight

considering we had a bank holiday in between, the response by the DVLA was relatively quick

I received an email on 4th Jan from the complaints team at the DVLA thanking me for my email to the CEO and

I checked on line my licence today, it has been renewed!!!

Not from Sept21 but from the 6th of jan22 to feb 23!!

Many thanks to this forum and ROG and Rob S for the support and comments received.

grateful thanks

Jim

Sure so for some reason “Lee Jones” works at DVLA
I am assuming he is heading up the COVID applications for lorry drivers
I found the email too… attached

Posted my renewal 23/12/21 by royal mail special delivery, not in a driving job at the moment but wanted to keep it running as a backup.
Received it back this morning 8/1/22 can’t grumble at that service considering bank holidays and Xmas post in between.
