This was taken at the Foden factory. I think it was for export and has the fuel tanks behind the rear wheels.
French-reg Foden probably attached to the Faversham depot at Oare. Can anyone remember which gearbox these had? Robert
Been informed by kmills on the Kent thread that these ^^^^ had Eaton Twin-splitters in . Robert
can t believe theres no photos of bromilows fodens there were popular moters doing europe every week

Good man! I had no idea Bromilow had LHD Fodens, let alone 4000-series until I saw your post. I’ve just Google them and immediately came up with a picture of one . Cheers, Robert

Yes you’re right Colin - I should know really because I drove one! That’s the Mark 4 version of the S10 cab so it’ll be an S106 on three axles.lol Robert

Blimey, RFT INT has started something off here! I didn’t know there were any LHD versions of those earlier S10 Fodens. Anyone know for sure what engine/gearbox that Bromilow unit had? Robert

I recall seeing one parked up on a motorway lay by, close to my home here in the Netherlands? Way back in the nineties a rare sight. A bright yellow three axle Fodens of an older type . Curtains closed. Driver sleeping I walked around it. I recall it was Cat powered, but I’m not sure.

A lot of the left-hookers seem to be CAT-powered, Federici’s Fodens among them . Robert
I’ve found more evidence of LHD Foden S106 units in Wobbe Reitsma’s book on export Fodens. Apparently, from 1986 onwards quite a lot of them were exported to Israel with CAT engines. No mention of what gearbox though. Pic below. Robert
And here’s another Israel export LHD Foden S106, this time with a ■■■■■■■ NTE 400 lump, split windscreen and double-drive. Still no gearbox clues though. Perhaps ‘Leyland-Ash’ can help us with that one! Robert
Looks better up this way chap !

I wonder why that bottom one has the cab set up so high.Would suggest the fitting of a larger engine.
Soma or atlantic engineering hub reductions too?

It’s quite a bit different from the norm. The step panel is deeper, plus the cab is mounted further above the lamps. It’s on 24" wheels too, if I’m not mistaken.
