Hi Gunnerheskey,
Iām sure our paths must have crossed too. They did have the 6 x 4ās, in fact that was the wagon Stodge drove for years as he used to tow the really heavy loads around the country. When I was about 10 or 11, I would often go with him if he was ālocalā. I even got to drive it a couple of times too. (Well, sit on his knee and steer !). Not on the road though. Great fun.Cheers for now,
Dave
Didnāt Pickfords also have a couple of āJumboā MAN tractor units as well in the early 80ās?

Thatās a real nice set up ,looks like barn doors too ticks all my boxes.
Re Gloversā¦Trevor Glover was a driver at whitwick granite company with my dad. In 1959 he bought his first lorry a brand new Leyland comet cab over over 4 wheel tipper it had an eaton 2 speed axle and went very fast for the time. However Trevor wasnāt happy with the brakes which were not air so he sold it quickly and bought a 4 wheeler foden he remained a foden fan for the rest of the life of the business. I lost contact with Trevor in the 1970 s when I left first for Bermuda and then on to Canada. His fleet was up to about 8 lorries I think .He moved out of quarry work and went onto scrap and coal haulage. He passed on a few years back.
that was my lorry for 8 months C92 JW Pallets

Merged 09.
Those red RK timber Daf 95s were on contract from Widdowsons in the early 90s, remember one of the drivers was Dave speake, ex Hercocks & Pinnacle international !
Then they were upgraded to ERF e series E14-320s
