Like the pic with DW wearing a ‘safety officers’ jacket, and Tim behind him with a ■■■ in his hand.
Could have been worse! Couple more to jog the old grey matter
Back in January 2007 the front shutter doors were once again battered by the wind the end result they were ripped out of the frame
I thought I would also include an early morning shot taken back in July 2004 at 04:45 AM
Pretty sure the second one is John? Always stunk the place out with his kippers, remember him driving through some shutter doors that had just been fixed, the van hadn’t even got to the gate when we called them back, then he drove a forklift through the shutters at the other end of the warehouse, then he went to another firm and smashed all their racking down, no wonder they say never drink and drive
Bit worried about the saw, Alan Cook and sharp things should never be near each other…
yep the second pic is john northmore the pic of alan cook was when he was disconnecting the phones that is just cutting through them with a pair of pliers the person holding the saw was neil franklin
Do you see any of the old gang Herby?
nope
the last person I saw was Sue Rata back when the royal wedding was taking place twas shopping over at west Swindon when I bumped into her I did meet simon one evening when he was making his way home from work No doubt people have more than likely seen me when im out and about on my bike
I don’t live near Swindon now, so I am unlikely to meet anyone. (Apart from Chris G)
I have the sign I posted earlier, a hi viz, a jacket, I’d have liked a lorry
And I have my memories…
I am pretty sure JL would have noticed one of his trucks was missing even though Enfield did manage to lose several “things” over the years A 7.5 tonne ERF is not something you can park on your driveway without anybody noticing it
Wasn’t much left after LL did one of his visits
this seems like a nice read from several years ago
A director of a multi-million pound storage and distribution firm has been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to conspiring to steal property worth over £100,000.
who was based at Leggett Freightways’ Enfield depot, appeared before Recorder Martin Oldham at Luton Crown Court.
Robert Woodland, store owner for Hoddesdon-based Raw Trading, received a nine-month prison sentence after also pleading guilty to the same offence.
The court heard how over a three-year period, would meet Woodland in pub carparks and sell him items from the loads he was delivering on behalf of retailers such as Mons, Playtex and stationers 3M UK.
Woodland, a salvage dealer who bought goods from many different sources, would then sell the items in his store.
A search warrant was executed by Hertfordshire police at Raw Trading’s premises in February this year.
Following the swoop, further warrants were Issued at locations in Nazeing and Hoddesdon. Police eventually recovered 35 pallets of property. The value of bras that were recovered alone was £20,000. Most of the stolen property was later returned to Its owners.
Simon Berkson said he had been dismissed from the multinational company for gross misconduct following his guilty plea. He had brought shame on the company and his family as a result.
Recorder Oldham acknowledged both the men’s guilty pleas and recognised they were equally of exceptional character. However, the offence was so serious he had no alternative but to impose custodial sentences. He said Leggett Freightways had suffered greatly as a result of his actions.
He was out in a couple of months with a tag, luckily for him the driver stole the wrong lorry, if he’d got the right one ( the one with all the pc world stuff on it) he’d have got years.
Had a nice long chat with Chris G again today. He was asking how you were Herb. And we were both wondering what you are doing nowadays?
what am I doing now well same as always as little as possible! when I left leggetts I became my dads full time carer twas a godsend leggetts shutting up shop in a way as my dads health became worse so I would have had to leave anyway to look after him Doing this did not do many favours to my own health but least im still breathing Now who from brum remembers this as the shunter?
Sorry to hear about your health Herbie, Leggetts shutting was a sad thing it did have a big effect on my life, they gave me a fist full of cash and paid for me to pass my LGV, which got me an equally well paid job, but given the choice I’d still be there. Nice to see the pictures of their lorries on here, I still see one occasionally.
They were gonna pay for my class one, but a month after telling me, I was made redundant.
Now who from brum remembers this as the shunter?

Before P991 GKK went to B’ham, it was based at Enfield. ‘Paddy John’ used to drive it until he jacked. I drove it to Reddish on quite a few nights. I remember that the gearbox on it was never as smooth as it should have been, often emanating a bit of a crunch at every change. It was never my favourite truck.
if I remember rightly P991 got tipped over one night making its way from Bridgend to Reddish that’s when B/end had the truck
