Last chance

I like it as it is too, A motorcycle forum that I also annoy people on changed to a later PHP system and it is very difficult to navigate around.

The only fault I find is when you search for something and dont find it you then have to retype the search query, but that may be just my PC

But basically the old tearoom in the corner of the garage is working ok so why build a new canteen? :stuck_out_tongue:

I found that using IE, if I refresh and then click TRY AGAIN, it returns to the search I did. :bulb: :bulb:

I’m with Rog and co here. Too many new features will probably just slow everything down to a crawl. It’s hard work if you have only a dodgy wifi link to get online with.
Please make a lot of these new features optional? So you can turn them on and off in your profile?

How about a feature to upload pictures directly to this site rather than to a hosting site.

I already sent a link AND DETAILS how this can be done but the original top dog i sent this to never replied.

How about you hand over the ownership to someone else?.

Preferably someone who would be willing to support the haulage industry?.

Well you for a start Rob !

There may be a way to do this already, (if there is I appologise in advance), but could all posted photos be automatically resized to fit the width of the standard screen. I find it infuriating to have to keep scrolling left and right to read the text when some of the photos are oversize for the page. (or perhaps it might be possible to limit the text width to the standard screen width.) Oversize photos seem to be the norm on most of the posts, but then you get some which fit the page ok and it makes it so much more pleasant to read the post. If someone wants to look at a detail on one of the photos they can zoom in if necessary, I think page width is more than adequate for most photos.
Just a small thing, but small things do irritate me.
My wife agrees about small things irritating her too

I agree with Rog about the search facility too.

sounds a good idea, too many people post pics that are too large !!!

640 x 480 is a good size for forums and even though photo hosting sites have resizing options people seem to forget :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

It might be that people don’t understand about photo sizes in the first place.

Having given advice to several members about posting pics and avatars, I’ve noticed that many people don’t have / can’t use photo-editing software.
For them, I’ve had them email me their pics, and I’ve sent them back after fettling. :grimacing:

Might it be an idea for the new system to be able to host pics, which a Mod could then resize / retouch, if necessary??
Not every person is as technically minded with I.T. as the next…

Having the picture size scaled down if they’re too big is a good idea, and not too difficult for the webby to program I wouldn’t have thought.

It’s still worth encouraging people to do it before posting though, to save on the download size.

I have a php webstie and its pretty easy to stop people adding pictures that are too big in the admin side.

Where’s the ROTFL smiley gone?

I’d get better hosting for the site for a start though. It’s been like pulling teeth this past couple of days with slowness.

Thats quite funny mate cos i thought they had limited my bandwidth or something but yes its like baing back on 56k waiting for it to load up sometimes.

Maybe the advertisers havent sent the cheques to the chequer or something or maybe its being hacked as we speak?.

;););).

Who knows.

I find its not only pictures that need to be re-sized…i also find that messaging is also too big for the screen. Dont say my monitor is too small, cos i also use my tv screen as a monitor, and thats 42 inches…so there…stick that in your pipe and smoke it…

Just wondering if there’s any news yet on when we can expect the site upgrade.
