I wouldn’t want to be driving a truck under these rules when a car is bad enough.
That’s lucky!

Reading the comments from the general public in the various papers, it seems everybody has underestimated the power of the cycling lobby.
How many professional drivers are going to keep calm when held up by these cyclists with their now officially sanctioned righteous zeal?

Only the sane ones.
The impatient nutters with anger management issues (who shouldnt be let within a mile of a vehicle) won
t keep calm.
.
Those who moan about other`s “righteous zeal”, with their own shed loads of “righteous zeal” on full display, will probably be the first to lose their calm.
If they had any calm to start with of course.

I think in your usual supercilious way you have established which camp you are in.

I dont think the new Highway Code rules are very helpful. I think those who allow themselves to get wound up about such things, that is not keep calm, shouldn
t be on the road.
“Entitled cyclists” are no better, and no worse, than “entitled truck drivers”.
It isn`t about tribes IMHO.

On a busy road when vehicles want to pass the cyclist should move to the side of the road, half a metre from the kirb.
There will always be the selfish who think they have a right to do what they want, no matter what they ride/drive.
When going into Chester along the A540, I sometimes have to wait behind cyclists for a while. The decent will pull in somewhere safe and thank me with a wave, others will carry on regardless. I will not pass them until it is clear and I can go fully into the opposite lane. It really isn’t a big deal.
Sadly…
This just means more people will become meat crayons on the road surface.
WTF happened to common sense?

It was on the Endangered Species Red List for a long time, I think it’s now been rebranded as Dynamic Risk Assessments
Anyone had any near miss situations with this yet? I stopped safely to let someone cross a road junction yesterday and they just looked at me like ‘what the f…’

Nobody rear-ended you?
As you slowed at a junction, your brake lights came on, and you slowed to a halt, there *wasnt* a hundred vehicles rammed into you? Who
d a guessed?

In fairness, there was nothing behind me because I was pulling out of my cul de sac. So no, no damage. Similarly there was no magic understanding between all parties about what the score is either… who would’ve guessed that too?

As opposed to stopped in the middle of a turn on an NSL road.
Or pedestrian refuses to move because offsighted traffic in other directions including undertaking or overtaking cyclists moped riders.
Or artic stopped in the middle of a turn blindside so now can’t see undertaking cyclists after pedestrian has crossed.
This is what happens when we have Lab/Lib coalition masquerading as Conservatives to get a bent vote.

Not a near miss but like you total confusion.
Today i was turning left into a side road off a main road there was a pedestrian on my near side walking towards the junction in the same direction of travel as myself, i slowed down and stopped as he reached the kerb the old bloke looked blankly at me as i had stopped so i signalled with my hand that he should cross but he stood his ground and didn’t move i was forced to break the rule because he was blissfully unaware it has been changed, i also had several cars behind me stuck because i couldn’t move, this rule change is a complete waste of time and is going to cause more problems than it solves.

To be fair anyone who’s older and wiser will still be going by the green cross code of our youth. When we’d have been aiming nukes at, or at least putting any minister
with this far left logic, on an MI5 watch list.
I can see someone looking at the truck waiting for person to cross then walk into a vehicle coming the other way
