My mate said if it does go wrong, buy another identical one from a truckstop, wait a few weeks and take the original one back to change, sell it on and you are quids in with a free kettle, result :sunglasses: …Now as if somebody as upstanding and totally honest as me would do something like that eh. :open_mouth:

How so? Youve bought one which breaks. Bought a second which is ok. Returned the first (dud) to exchange for a good un.
So youve bought 2 and end up with 2. Am I missing something? (It wouldnt be the first time).

Hang on I best think about it myself here before I answer.
Right got it.
I buy the 16 quid one which breaks but the 30 day warranty is up so I’m stuck with it.

I go and buy a 50 quid one…total so far 66 quid.

I take the duff one back and get my 50 quid back.
Brand new working fully warranted kettle for 16 quid in effect.

Or.
Get replacement and flog it …hang on…
Yeh you’re right I don’t get a free kettle.

OK…I just posted that to see who would be the first to pick up on my deliberate mistake, it was you so.
Well done! :sunglasses:

 :unamused:
It’s Sunday morning and I had a few beers last night, ok?

Yeah, I did a double take before posting too ! Maybe I`ve had one more coffee than you so far this morning.

I bought a cordless kettle for a fiver from Wilko’s and a toaster for the same price, use them 5 mornings a week and have done for about a year.
Inverter is the way to go.

A mate of mine does the same, but it’s the price of the big inverter needed, and the hassle (and cost again) of getting it all wired in professionally with Anderson leads etc etc.

Always would use 24v as many reducers don’t like high amps.
I would carry a flask, and put the the left over hot water in the flask, next time it takes half the time to heat water.
Also I use to fill my flask with hot water wherever it was free, save me time to make a cuppa at the next opportunity.
Waeco make th best quality, but none live forever.

I found the cheap £16 ones from truckstops like Cawley Crossing OK, dont fill more than you put in your travel mug and they boil in about 8 minutes. Unscrew the plug and tighten the two screws that hold the cable regulary and you wont have any bother, had mine two years now and check the cable every week.

if you have a volvo see my thread below about rampage all the internal power is 10 amps and a waeco needs 20amps. 15 at very least.

It’s a 66 plate Actros, what’s the score on ampearge on that?

(Btw already know about rampage, especially in the middle lane in roadworks. )

If it’s an Actros it won’t have any Hella sockets and the lighter ones melt quite rapidly.

Guess it’s gas then…this one brews up quick!

Yeh that’s right, but I have used other kettles on the cig lighter ok tbh, maybe just been lucky.

Right then a question for the electricians.
If I need to wire in a hella lead, to run that new Waeco kettle from.
Will it be ok to connect it in the fuse box to the same contacts as where my anderson connector is that I run my fridge off?
Or will it overload it on the occasions where the kettle is being used simultaneously with the permanently running fridge.
Or will I need to get it connected to a seperate contact.

Just for the record Rob I’ve been using one of those Waeco things for about last two years, can’t fault it, and I’d say I boil it about 6 times every day on average. When it eventually gives up on me I’ll replace with same for sure.

Cheers mate is it on a Hella plug or cig lighter…and do you have an Actros.

It’s hard wired to the Scania Rob, my mates just packed up after 4 and half years service, good value I reckon!

Another vote for gas from me. I too do the flask full of boiling water thing. It’s the cheapest and most reliable way I’ve found plus as somebody else said you can warm some food up with it if you get caught out somewhere foodless [emoji4]

66 plate Actros, with no Hella fit as standard. (The only make of truck I’ve had that has not :unamused: )

How you going to manage that if you aint got any ā– ā–

Come on lads, still waiting for an answer to my wiring in the Hella question. :bulb:
Do I have to open another thread here on it?
Look out for a burnt out Merc on the hard shoulder otherwise.
