That unit went to Coulling Bros

Another Coulling Brothers lorry.
This was one of Coullings big contract
Another lovely photo of a Lenham Storage Merc courtesy once again of Paul Willis. These were iirc the first Mercs Lenham had and I believe there were four of them. I stand to be corrected as I’m no expert on the company. I do know that the driver in the photo is Richard Kearney and he is in Oostende, Belgium. I knew Alan Turner back in the 60’s who also drove one of these Mercs. Don’t you just love the ‘cats whiskers’ sticking out the front of the bonnet.

Another great, my dad used to go with Richard Kearney in the school holidays. My nan grandad dad and auntie used to live in platts heath before moving into one of Lenham Storage houses on site

H E Woodcock from Headcorn. Lot of local companies went over to curtain siders at that time. Louis Reece of Horsmonden being the first iirc.
I’m pretty sure that unit was on a contract hire to Woodcocks from Sparshatts rental company Twodrive Ltd, and got returned early due to their sad demise

Didn’t that unit end up at Coullings?
5 generations of MAN lorries at Lock of Headcorn. Looks like the photo was taken at their old yard before they moved. Its thanks again for the photos to Paul Willis who I believe worked for them.
Please click on the photos to really bring them to life.

Glad to see one of the old Lenham Storage Mercs was preserved. Cats whiskers and all.
Just visible at the n/s/f is the Worshipful Company of Carmen’s Cart-Marking Ceremony plate.

I saw it on a Facebook site. Cant remember which one, sorry. Same with the Tom Johnston lorry today. Perhaps the lorry, Dodge 5 DKK, I showed a few days ago replaced the one shown today. Bit different in number of axles though.

Another local company I saw a lot of in the 70’s. First photo was taken at the Kent Show in 1980 and shows Colin on the right.
